Other game types

This has probably been suggested before, but I think it would be cool to have a look sometimes at games other than Classic Sunny Term Escalating. The SoC has a classroom for team play, and I'm not looking for a new classroom, but I'd like to hear from the SoC sages who wouldn't mind going over their basic strategies for other game types.
For instance, how is Standard different from Term? When I play a Term game, I use the SoC's philosophy on using stacks of armies and ignoring bonus areas. Is that the best strategy for a Standard Classic game?
Every few months or so, I'd like to see a thread that has the SoC's teachers' takes on a different game type, such as Assassin games.

Standard is pretty much the same as terminator. It's a bit less aggressive than terminator - nobody will eliminate you just because they can, since it won't yield points - people will only eliminate you if it benefits them towards the victory of the game.
Assassin games can be short... and on some maps & settings they don't really work at all (meaning they are purely luck based). IMO They're really more a novelty... kinda like nuclear spoils... The main strategy of assassin is securing and killing your target while protecting all other players from elimination. You not only have to kill your target but make sure nobody eliminates theirs first...
Team games can be roughly divided in 2 categories: 6-8p dubs, and the rest (4p dubs, trips, quads). I don't know much about trips & quads, and I'm still learning dubs, so I'll let someone else comment on those...

the purpose of SoC is to build a foundation to improve ones gameplay and rank for those who have had trouble. Its a very common sense simple approach we teach. The great thing is that one can use it to branch out into other areas and maps.
We start with trminator on classic because that is the quickest way to build rank and confidence with a new player. I remeber I joined SOC about 2 years ago after I had clawed my way up to seargent. Within a week I made lietenaunt.
Different maps and card style offer their own unique challenges. With our style keeping it simple works best. what you do with it is up to you.
If we catered to every map and gamestyle we would go crazy I think. wacicha was a genius in his simplistic approach terminator on classic.
I have played assasin games which i find very fun although using fog makes it a lottery. if ya want to pla agame ill make one up.

Yes, all that is true. But I do agree with the comment on Standard, esc. If you want to expand out a bit now, join or setup some standard games with same settings. There are more potential points and the strategic play is very similar in the beginning. The point is to stay defensively strong until you are ready to pounce, then pounce aggressively, always moving to another cash until you have them all. It can be great fun.

Standard is also a great way to solidify ones rank as it is winner take all. Its a natural evolution from terminator to standard escalating. I usually have 10 games of terminator and 2 or 3 standard escalating.

Right, and an advantage of playing standard with SoC training is that other players don't expect the strategy and will go for bonuses. I'm trying to get the silver Term medal, or I'd play more standard games, too.

Hey, membership has its privileges. One day I might upgrade to premium, if only to get access to that second tier of dice I've heard so much about. =)

I wish I could say it's everything I've dreamed about. I've heard stories of guys buying premium and winning with 40 troops vs. 70, so I look forward to those kinds of games. =)

Yeah, I remember the time I was playing against Miles in Tunisia. Got over with a 30 against 120. What a game.
