Grade on a Curve

Concise description:
  • Ranks are determined by proportional score, not based on a rigid list

Specifics/Details:
  • Instead of having fixed scores for the ranks, the ranks are based on what percentile of all scores active on the scoreboard
  • So the lowest 10% are cooks, even if they have a score of 2000
  • Only the highest 0.1% will be Field Marshals, and 1% will be Generals
  • The exact percentages will need to be worked out

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • It will be get rid of the gross amount of majors, destroying the ugly bell curve and providing a more legitimate scoring system
  • We can realistically determine how many of each rank there should be, based on international army structures
  • the score inflation will no longer matter
  • we won't all starve because there will be more cooks

Its really only going to stretch out the lower ranks. There are less than 1% generals now.

How would you determine how much a person moves up or down based on a win or loss?

There may be merit to this but, the devil is in the details.

The scoring system itself wouldn't change, just the rank would be based on position on the scoreboard instead of score.
