You versus karelpietertje: best of 5! [abandoned]

Postby karelpietertje on Thu May 14, 2009 8:26 am

hello CC!

In this thread, I want to call out all players of Conquerclub to play a best of 5 against me!
To accept this challenge, reply here or send me a PM.
Be aware that I use a script called Clickable Maps. you can get it too, go here (but don't forget to come back here )
If you have MSN, it would be cool to send me your address or add me (klootzak243@hotmail.com). for speed games, we both need to be online, and whenever i'm online, i'm on MSN :D
we will play them one by one, whenever we have time :)
NOTE: I often set up 7 games at a time on all these maps. You are free to join them, but they won't count for this challenge!

When either you or me won 3 games in less than 5 games, it is up to you to decide if we play the remaining games.

Settings
    2 players
    Freestyle
    No Spoils
    Unlimited fortifications
    Sunny
    Speed

Maps (you may choose to play 5 different ones or the same one 5 times, up to you :))

Current challenges
    FredVIII
    show: Results 3-0

Well, I cant pass up a World Challenge. So Ill play as many of the 5 of those as needed. But I am super busy. Does it matter if it drags out for a while. Only once in a while will I get home early enough to fit one in. Im in a massive project right now. But again, Id lose my self respect if I passed up the opportunity. All on World 2.1. Maybe Ill get bold and give waterloo a shot at some point, but first things first. :)

hey AAFitz, you were indeed one of the players who I thought of as potential accepters of this challenge.
I will add you to the challenges, and we will see when we are both online.
it does not matter if it drags out for a while.

lol DC is kicking some ass :)
he officially made me lose the first game for this challenge!
of course he started with a little extra bonus, and got a little bit better dice, but he made no mistakes, deployed on the right spots, and gave me no chance of coming back!
=D>
Let's see if you can win 2 more ;)

that idea is gross and a major manipulation of cheap tactics

if you have a slower computer and no tools like clickable maps, etc, it highly favors the faster player, not the better player

this type of game play should be banned as it gives inaccurate truth to real skill, no matter how you slice it, all should be able to play on a fair and equal playing field, not a highly favored one

I've consulted previously with Admin on this and while I agree with Blitz personally, the settings are Clearly Stated on the first post. Players do not have to disclose they are using Clickable-Maps, however, when joining games, one should review a players previous games of a certain type. Eg. if you notice that a player can play a whole round's worth of moves in under 5 seconds, you may want to really think about whether to accept this challenge. Please do not post here unless you are accepting the challenge or asking for clarification of this challenge. Only accept this challenge if you really want to.

Clickable Maps are open to everyone. While I agree they should be standard from everyone the setting should not be removed. IMO the most exciting games come from FS Speed games.

P.s. Why are certain huge maps removed from this?
aka Supermax and Forbidden City?

Thanks Blitz, but I would not dare to state that I would come anywhere near your sequential skills ;)

jpcloet wrote:Only accept this challenge if you really want to.

thanks jp, with that I hope the discussion between freestyle and sequential will be finished (or be continued elsewhere), and this topic can get back to being a challenge to CC!

LFAW wrote:Why are certain huge maps removed from this?

The map list will be altered soon.
I'm thinking about deleting the drop-dependant Pearl Harbour and replacing it with Forbidden City. I do however not like Supermax. Even though it's big, lots of territories are hidden behind neutrals.

It would be nice if players indicate that they were using them, full-disclosure would be nice.

Hmm I like sequential but sequential tends to be a do or die with dice. At least you can have a few rounds of bad dice with Freestyle. Otherwise I'm good with sequential. Btw that's just for 1v1, either dubs I'm good at (freestyle or sequential)

I don't know exactly what full-disclosure is exactly, but here's what I'm going to do:
I'll put a note in the starter post that I use it, and a link to the Plugin & Addon forum how to get it.

I hope that this will end the discussion.
I also want to emphasize that I never meant to create illusions or manipulate anybody.

Please god, make the next post on-topic [-o<

Do you take Sequential Challenges?
