Looking for top of the line players

I'm looking at throwing together a tourney but I'll need some help from some of the top talent on the site. I would assemble a group of "masters" and their settings. These players choose everything, even their own teammates if it is a doubles, triples or quadruples setting.

The tourney would consist of players trying to beat the "masters". The "masters" wouldn't be eligible for a tourney medal but I would see what I could do about getting some GA medals approved for certain winning percentages from them.

The tournament players sign up as individuals and go through and play against all the "masters" and their respective maps. Whichever player was able to get the most wins against the "masters" would be the winner.

Exact details will be posted in the tournament thread once I am able to put together a big enough list of "masters" to determine if this is truly a possibility or not. Please PM me if you are interested or if you would like more details.

I have contacted a few players and I received a few volunteers to participate but will need at least another handful or two in order to get this thing launched.

if you want a list of the top players on any map the Scoreboard Server is the place to go.

Does sound like a cool idea, almost a Whac-a-Mod but a more defined setup favoring those being challenged. Would just need to make it so the "masters" arent instantly targeted in some games, such as 8 player standards. Perhaps giving some credit for eliminations in general and a bonus for the master, just using that example. I know some people wouldnt want to get immediately disadvantaged, whether they are good at a map/setting or not.

Yeah, no 8 player standards.

It'd be all 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 games.

Example:
Master X & Master Y agree to participate. Master X chooses 1v1 Poker Club, Foggy, Chained, Nuclear for his home map. Master Y chooses Quads, World 2.1, Foggy, Chained, Escalating as his home maps (he also has to bring three friends to be on his Master team).

Every player that signed up for the tournament would play Master X on Poker Club and Master Y on World 2.1 Quads, the player would be responsible for gathering 3 friends to help him in World 2.1 (could use fellow tourney players).

Essentially the players who signed up to play in the tournament would be put into a gauntlet against top competition to see how they fare.

I'd sign up for the tourney immediately, because it sounds awesome. Unfortunately, I'm not a top-of-the-line-player. I hope you pull this idea through, because this would be way more challenging than the Whack-a-Mod games. I can imagine some 1v1 freestyle-players signing up as Masters, because they're close to unbeatable on some maps.

PM me with the map(s) & settings you are strongest at. I'll Map Rank you and check out your recent games there to make the judgement call on whether you'd be considered a master or not.

When I say top of the line, I don't mean scoreboard wise or rank wise. I mean per map. I'd take a Cadet as a master if he has won 90% of games on the map he would choose (with enough experience & formidable opponents to validate the 90% of course).

And even if you don't cut it as a master, you can always sign up as a player. I will try to limit the number of freestyle masters though as I do not want a freestyle tournament; though I will allow definitely allow some.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, maybe I'm not being real clear on the set up right now (I don't want to give away ALL the details... ;) ). I'd have the masters all planned out and lined up in advance, they would not be eligible to be declared the tournament champion. Then I'll take signups for "everyday tournament players" to match up against these map masters.

How about really bad players who think they're awesome, can they join? Not that I'd know anything about that.

If you're looking for top guys on the different maps, then as greenoaks says, Chipv's Scoreboard Server is the place to go.
halfway down the link I gave you, you can find the top 10's for most of the maps

Would the players have to play every master? Because I do not play freestyle, period, and being forced to play that would take my consideration out...

No, I can not force you to do anything.

If I get the desired 15 masters, and say 3 of them are freestyle players, you could just play the other 12 and skip the 3 freestyle players. It will just not help your chances because tourney champion would be based on total wins against the masters.

I would not remove you from the tourney for deciding not to play a couple maps/settings though I wouldn't let everyone cherry pick and only play 4 out of 15 either. That'll all be laid out in the final layout of the tourney.

Well i would have to say me and innyafacce are the masters of das schloss doubles freestyle (or anything das schloss really). I am really good at anything freestyle but I am also good at these maps: das schloss (as said before), supermax prison riot, monsters, ww2 gazala, jamaica, both fuedals, oasis, orient express, Antarctica and Waterloo. Besides those maps all the simple/geographical maps are very easy too, It would just depend on my teammates :D ( I wouldn't consider myself the best of the best! but i am pretty good     )

if you are interested in me playing as a master send me a p.m. If not thats cool and I can just join the tourney and prove Im the best haha
