SUGGESTION: TimeFramed Battle. (New Gameplay)

Postby Androidz on Mon Aug 04, 2008 10:51 am

Concise description:
  • TimeFramed Battle.

Specifics:
  • You can only conquer the terretories you border. After conquered one of the terretories you border you cant attack from the new terreorie before the next round.
  • You can set timelimit how long a game will last.

    - 5 days

    - 3 days

    - 2 days

    - 1 day.

    - 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 18 hours.. 19...

When the timelimit is set and a game isint finshed during this time the database will count number of terretories on both site and the winnner is the one with most. Now this will make the aspect more like real war. This is ofcourse only aliveable in Standard, Doubles, Triples and Quads. This will work cool with Infected Neatruals i think:D (Chance of draw if neatruals win?)

Note the Game will Be dropped if not the both players have taken their turns during this time. Deadbeating Happen the first time loseing hes turn

Now if this idea is liked i will add it to my gameplaylist found here:

    viewtopic.php?f=4&t=55900

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Faster Turns.
  • More Real Warish Theme.
  • Fun with Infected Neatruals?
  • Win with Terretories isint that cool?:D

That is the part where you run into problems.
If I know that the game ends after 5 days, I will wait and play at 4 days 23 hours 55 minutes, 5 before the deadline.
So then since I am last to play, I can just suicide out all my armies to take as many territories as possible. Because of the time limit, I wouldn't have to worry about my opponents fighting back against me, because the game will already be over.
So I can suicide all over the place and take tons and tons of extra territories, which would probably allow me to win the game.
That gives a huge advantage to whoever goes last in the game.

Bad idea, I think.

Very bad idea - time limits will be abused too much no matter the circumstance.

Note the Game will Be dropped if not the both players have taken their turns during this time. Deadbeating Happen the first time loseing hes turn and will be dropped and no one gains points.

How come this can be abused?

Let's say the settings are on 5 days, and Sequential 24 hour turns.

Red has 19 terits
Blue has 18 terits
Green has 5 terits

Let's say red's 24 hour clock starts 4 days ,5 hours, and 21 minutes into the game.
Therefore, the game will be over before red's 24 hour clock is over, and red doesn't even have to start his turn. Does this encourage players to take faster turns? No. Why would red start his turn, when he can just wait out the clock for an easy win? This type of game would feature major clock abuse.

This can only work for freestyle.

I also think that avg. armies per terr. is a better way for the victory.

I do not like this idea. People would then stack huge armies on one territory in the hopes that someone will eat away at their 1s.

Another way to fix this so its not missused that you can only conquer the terretories you border. After conquered one of the terretories you border you cant attack from the new terreorie before the next round.
