Place a link to view only your own ratings left for players

Hi guys,

being relitivly new to the site, firstly I would like to commend you on a 1st class site compared to the other sites attempting to provide the same service. They do not come close to the appearance, functionality, and overall experience here.

My only real critisism is some of the players I have encountered here. I am aware this is beyond anybodies control, however, I think it would be very useful to be able to see at a glance ratings I have left for a selected player and/or consult games I have encountered them in.

It seems to me, that the ratings system is very rarely used correctly, in that you seem to be awarded 1 star or 5 depending if you have got along with the player or not. Imho, you may as well get rid of 2,3 & 4 stars and just have good/bad.

I have encountered several players, who are either tatically retarded, suicidal, or just plain rude and offensive. At first, I used the Foe list, but this does not help too much, as it doesnt stop me joining games of which they are already a member. Sometimes I remember a name, but canot remember if it was for a good reason or a bad reason. To find the answer, currently I have to either tab through a list of what seems neverending games, or a similarly long list of ratings left/recieved, at which point I am able to view the games I have played with them to make a decision whether I wish to play with them again. It would be useful, certainly to me, to be able to click on a name, then move directly to my ratings of them. I believe also that this would make the ratings be used more in which the manner they are intended, people could rate people properly according to the catorgories listed... I mean, why do people rate someone with 1 star for fair play when they only have a bad game due to inexperienced gameplay, surely fair play and gameplay are not linked in any way whatsoever, same with attitude, they might be clueless in gameplay, but be a really nice person and fun to play with. If I could instantly refer to my own original rating of them, I would be able to use it as a tool to evaluate the potential games i wish to play.

Interested to hear what others think about this :) thanks for reading

This is an old favourite topic. I've had people PM me after I left them "only" 3 stars as Average, wanting to know what they had done wrong! Most people fail to use the ratings system properly.

All I can suggest is to look at everyone's ratings befiore joining a game and investigate anyone who has lower than 4.5. It's a crude measure and if they haven't played many games then it's easily skewed, however it's one of the few ways you've got of checking people out before playing. When I host I try to look at this whilst the game fills up - and if someone looks likely to be a turnip I'll drop the entire game, don't want to waste my time with an annoying person! :)

I fully support this idea. I would like to see on every player's profile if I have rated them before and if so, how. Could be done with a direct link from each profile to my own ratings left for that player.

In general, this could also be a good incentive to the use of the full 5 scales of available ratings.
