Concise description:
The majority of the team games I have played have been freestyle, but I hate freestyle. The only reason I play it is because it allows my teammate and I to take our turn at the same time, which opens up a lot of deployment and reinforcement options.
I propose a new play order option be implemented called the Team Sequential play order, for lack of a better name thus far.
Specifics:
With the Team Sequential play order, turns are basically sequential except all members of one team have a playable turn at the same time, while the other team/teams do not.
Example:
Team 1 - Players A and B
Team 2 - Players C and D
Team 3 - Players E and F
Game begins, players A and B both have playable turns while players C, D, E and F do not. Team 1 completes their turn, players C and D now both have playable turns while players A, B, E and F do not. Team 2 completes their turn, players E and F now both have playable turns while players A, B, C and D do not. Team 3 completes their turn and the cycle starts over.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
I find that taking a turn at the same time as your teammate truly enhances the depth of strategy to team games by allowing more flexibility and options when it comes to deploying troops and reinforcing troops.
I actually sit in Ventrilo with my teammates and we work together on each turn. By playing freestyle, we get to implement all of our plans at once instead of having our co-operative plans interrupted by the normal sequential turn option. Unfortunately, with the freestyle turn option, everyone in the game can be taking turns at one time, and this makes things too chaotic to read correctly -- having to constantly refresh to see if the move you're about to make is still valid. With the Team Sequential play order, though, your full team can take their collective turns peaceably and really focus on strategy.
