New Cross Map Achievment Medal Idea

Concise description:
  • Change the requirements for the current Cross Map Achievement medals to make them harder. Instead of only having to beat 5 opponents on 60 maps for gold, why not make it every map.

Specifics:
  • Cross Map Achievement Bronze Medal: Beat 5 opponents on 25% of maps.
  • Cross Map Achievement Silver Medal: Beat 5 opponents on 50% of maps.
  • Cross Map Achievement Gold Medal: Beat 5 opponents on 100% of map.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • This will give the good players something else to achieve every time more maps come in. It will also get players to play all maps.

Anyone else like this idea?

maybe the 100% medal could be platinum?
and gold be like 75%?

Sure, the percentages could be changed around a little if new medal types are added or for any other reason.

I am not sure about percentages, because of the new map issue, but I do think the standards are a bit low...speaking as someone who has already earned the gold.

Also, I would like to see some distinction between those who got the medal by playing a lot of 1v1 and those who got it playing solely games with more players.

I play mostly 1v1 and almost feel as if I "cheated" to get the medal.

Idea with percentages breaks the essential spirit of medals - medals are here to stay. You achieve the medal and you have it forever. You can't just take out someone's medal because a few hundred of new maps are made.
And you can't tomorrow demand 200 maps for gold medal if it's now achievable for less than 100...

I think that all the medals are going to need to be scaled over time with new levels, Cross Map in particular. Oh, and Lanyards, I've won on more maps than you (81 of 88 and 2 more map victories on the way). ;)

As for the actual idea, no, percentages are the exact opposite of the medals idea.

EDIT: Put the right map number down. I've NOT won on 7 maps.

FYI - there are 88 maps.

Yea I fully agree. I could understand if someone proposed a shift to 10 unique opponents though and I expect "higher" medals to be made later.

Well of course we wouldn't make it impossible to get. If this ever gets used, then Das will surely be back by then, or it wouldn't count.
