Bi annual point resetting

Specifics:
  • To reset points to 1000 every 6months

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
By combating point inflation, discourage point dumping, and create a challenging atmosphere that would weed out the good players from the cheats and lucky ones.
A race to the top every 6 months would be good competition.
This would help those in a rut, as well as those who are simply bored playing the same people over and over, just to maintain a high score.

Since Conquer Club is "designed for the casual gamer" I think that a score reset every 6 months would alienate the target audience.

Consider new players joining. With a score reset every 6 months then the average time between joining and the next score reset will be 3 months. It follows that 50% of those new players will probably have their scores reset less than three months after joining ... just imagine being in the 10% who will probably have their scores reset within 18 days of joining ...

Even if players actually stay after that experience they may quite easily have their score reset every 18 games or so ... a casual gamer completing 3 games a month isn't unreasonable.

On it's own this suggestion sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Point resets are only good for competitive ladders.

How about an option of point resets for premium members, say 1 or 2 resets allowed per year.?

Who would take it? People like their points, and few players reach the top playing singles. There would be no reason to.

Some people just like dropping down, and moving back to the top

How about points reset after 6 months and you must have been registered for at least 6 months before yuo can be reset.

Example:
Player ABC has been playing for 1 year and 3 months. On January 1st 2009, the points get reset for everyone(with at least 6 months) and Player ABC who was at 1671 points in now 1000.
Player XYZ has been playing for 3 months. On January 1st 2009, since he has not played for 6 months, his points stay at current level (lets say 1790).

Now on July 1st 2009 Player ABC has increased his points from the last reset to 2,349 and is reset to 1000
Now on July 1st 2009 Player XYZ has passed the 6 month minimum requirement for point reset and is reset from 2595 to 1000

How about that?
Old players get a level playing filed each 6 months.
Newer players will not ever join and have a point reset that is less than 6 months in time.
It opens up the games so people are more likely to take chances and play anyone.
If a player consistently climbs to the top then it shows that they are actually good.

A game I played called EARTH 2025 had multiple servers to choose from.

Everything could stay the way it is but the most hardcore players (and even the casual) could choose to play on a second "server" with point reset once in a while.

I would love that option to be added.A decent chunk of my games would be played on the new server.
