Concise description:

• We should have a statistic that states the most common tags a member has received along side with their average rating for each category.

Specifics:

• Let's face it, tags are made to be descriptive, but to see the tags a person has received, you need to scroll through a heck of a lot of ratings and then forget half of them. So we should have a display of the most common tags the person has received (with the # to the side) next to the place on the ratings page where you see the average for each category.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:

• Easier to see tags
• Tags will mean more
• Since we have a system that will never be thrown out anyways, we may as well do something to improve it.

Lets not get in a discussion about why (or why not) the ratings system is bad. This thread was made to make a slight improvement to the system, and possibly after enough small improvements, it might have at least an ounce of use in it. Also, I decided for a small change in the system, because there is no way that they will ever put another huge makeover on the To Do List.

Please do not merge this with gdeangel's thread about adding a tag that says "Point Farmer" They both deal with tags, but completely different subjects. Lets keep this separate.

Would you have a problem with using the number of times the person has been given the tag and the line (tagged by X players) to give a pseudo-average of how often the player received the tag? I mean, if I were to get "deadbeat" 20 times, and JR were to get "deadbeat" 20 times, it would be completely different given that he has about 60 times as many games completed as I do.

But is that now how I phrased it? One second, let me reword myself, because I am not coming across.

The 4 most common tags that a player has received will be displayed at the top of the person's rating page along with the # of people that left them the tag.

In your example, if JR received 20 tags saying "deatbeat" they will not show up because there will be a 100 other tags saying something like "Good Strategy."

So If I have 100 ratings and the tags people gave me are 20 saying Deatbeat, 40 saying Balanced Play, 30 Saying cheap Tactics, 60 saying Good Strategy, 15 saying Poor Strategy, and 10 saying Bad Teammate: My page will show something to the likes of:

Ok, I missed the "most common" part of your first post, but I would still like to see some sort of percentage or "out of" type number there as well, just for perspective.

Ummm... he has it right there at the end of the line.

I think this is a good idea. There is one point to consider which is that people will leave the 1-5 ratings a lot more frequently than they tag (as tagging is not party of getting the "feedback" medal). So when you give the "out of" total, should you look at all ratings left, or just the ratings where the person took the time to tag something/anything? Just a thought...

I think this is the reason it is a lost cause. People leave ratings and no tags because it is faster, but if you add a tag medal, everyone will just quickly leave the same tags for everyone they have played making that meaningless too.
