don't play at the moment

Postby bob72 on Tue May 20, 2008 10:11 am

Just after taking my turns in 11 games and I lost in most of them.

Including a 9 army losing streak after deploying 13 armies on a territory.

I had a few 6v3 autos where I lost 4 armies in 5 out of 11 games.

The database must be spitting out losses at the moment I can accept the fact that 1 roll in 3 is going to be a double loss on any 3v2 attack but to roll 5 3v2 rolls and lose 9 armies .... then play another 10 games and lose in most of them. It's not normal.
[-X

So best to give it a couple of hours until the good results roll in.

... defenders and attackers dice are read from the same database of numbers.

My god, will people actually read the numerous statistical examples provided. Barely anyone has a clue on the basics of stats.

well, there is THAT... however, i am just kicking ass, so i don't care what the OP has to say! maybe he should just learn when to hold 'em, and when to fold 'em... when you rely on the dice, you have no strategy.-0

Even if I wanted very large files of random numbers, say, between 1 and 6?

I take it the dice owned you in a game thus gifting the game to another player?

not today. not yet at least. I'm playing a speed game right now with some hella-tough 1's, but y'know, that'll happen.

This may explain why one of our team attacked 18 with 5 and ended up 3v3.

Thanks old chap, you turned the game for us.

Dice were much kinder today :D

You can start playing again guys.

Sorry but I don't know how stats work but I know that I got sucky dice in all my games yesterday afternoon.

That's a FACT not a variance.

All last night the site was shit... horrible lag and horrible dice all around over here.

Today it's about 50-50 on attacks consistently, which is, of course BS when your rolling 3-1, but still better than last night.
My ever constant two last games seem to have no end in sight!

its not random, machine cant produce random distributions.. at least thats what i hear, its produce by algorythm's calculation and unless you can hack into the server and see its actual calculations.. any other calculations just merely a representation of "randomness" 8-)

It's not a machine generating numbers ;)

It's taking numbers off of the randomness of background radiation.

How do you know that other people didn't just get good dice in all their games yesterday afternoon? Stop being so self-centred. ;)

Yes this is true... but what nobody seems to realize is that background radiation can vary with sun spot activity... which is exactly what happened 2 days ago when more people than normal experienced bad streaks... I never launch any major attacks myself, without 1st checking solar activity...

This is what it looked like 2 days ago... it's no wonder there weren't more people complaining about the dice on Tuesday...

Image

And if that isn't enough to convince you... then just take a look at this!!!!
This image is also from Tuesday.

lol... funny funny.... but i'm serious on this one guys...
i always do a quick check of this before making a run on the board...
if activity is high, then i'll wait... if not, then i go for it...
the dice are random, yes... but it can be VERY streaky when cosmic radiation spikes...
funny thing is, sometimes it can work FOR you, and you'll get GOOD streaky dice...

The point is, spikes in cosmic radiation can and does cause streakiness...
I've been tracking this for a long time and it really helps to avoid streaky dice!

At the risk of being too serious.... aren't the CC dice from a saved file, not taken on-demand from random.org, and thus from solar radiation some time in the past?

Otherwise if the random site went down CC would be hosed.

yes yes, partially true... they are recent files, 1st in 1st out... so of course they are somewhat chonologically delayed, but remember, there is also a delay before this stuff reaches the earth... anyway, it does seem to time out reasonably well, although not always...

What i have noticed is that doesn't time well when CC is running at peak (i suppose that means we're burning through #'s too fast) and it is also sketchy when CC activity is really really slow (meaning we are using "old" numbers)

mmnnnn.... all this makes me realize that all we would need to do to be able to accurately predict streaky dice, would be to know the exact time lag on the #'s from random.org... unfortunantly, that is probably a closely guarded secret....
