Since you found your way into the forums, you should check for tips on Battle for Iraq. This map is new and I won't pretend I understand it. Something to do with fortifying neutral allegiances, and stuff that isn't that intuitive. The 8-player great lakes will be more straightforward, but it'll take a while to fill up. Welcome to the site!

I'm not sure what you don't understand, but take a look at the Instructions at the top of the page. Also take a look at the Help tab too...there is a FAQ that may help guide you in the right direction.
