Would it make more sense if he phrased it, "why should anyone give a f#ck about...?"

Hmmm...Good question. Maybe they live very privileged lives, and have nothing better to concern themselves with. Thanks detlef. Somehow, you've made me jealous of complainers.

I am amazed and even stunned that a player from the great Thota clan should be worrying so about some measly points loss.

Are we seeing a breakdown in discipline? I think we should be told.

I'm pretty new here, and I am appalled by the attitude of some people on this site. I feel that, as PAYING CUSTOMERS, we have the right to BITCH AS MUCH AS WE WANT about the recent crash and how it affected our games/scores.

What kind of asshat responds to a legitimate complaint from a paying customer by posting a picture of a baby, thereby insinuating that the unsatisfied customer has no reason to be upset? I was only affected in 1 game, but it was a devastating blow to me, and I have now been eliminated from that game already.

I'd like to thank the admins for doing their best to get the site back up, and for doing their best to make things right for everyone, but the fact remains that a lot of people got hosed. But this will not be the reason I quit Conquer Club...The reason I will quit is if the admins continue to condone this behavior (bashing the complainers) by allowing it to continue.

Quite right, to be affected in 1 game only is a devastating blow. It may mean to those reading that you were already losing in all your other games.

I do not play more than 5 or 6 casual games at a time, and the occasional speed game. I had no other games going as I was going out of town with dubious chances of web access. I was not going to join or create any new games until I came home from my trip yesterday, and this game was just not over yet. Red had missed 2, and I was in position to take Red out, and had strength almost 2X everyone else. When I left Friday, red had just missed turn 2, and 3 people had to go before my turn even started. I found access, and tried to login Sat night, but could not log in. I came home Sun afternoon to find I had missed my turn, and that my deadbeat red had 36 hours, which we all had to wait to expire before she was booted from the game. Next player, green, trades cards and takes me out.

Yeah, so I was affected 100% in 100% of my active games. :D Since I'm new, and have had a rough start, this game would have been a huge win for me...my first back to back, and my 4th I think overall. It might not seem like a big deal to people who have 10, 20, or however many games going, but for me, it was devastating.

I'm thick skinned enough to take the childish comments (not on your part Fruitcake), but I shall not be silent!

Oh Bammers...

Where to begin. Well, I'll suppose why I take the less than sympathetic view towards these complaints. For starters, it is just a game. There's no prize waiting at the end of this all for the player with the most points. There's no material loss associated with CCs server failures. It's just that some people unfairly lost games. Of course, that means other unfairly won them but I'm still waiting for the first one of them to chime in.

Well, looky there, what a nice transition to point number 2. I'm rather certain that the majority of these complaints are blown out of proportion and would not be surprised if many of the people complaining about "having 20 games going and losing 10 of them unfairly" or whatever rather unbelievable story they're spinning also got hooked up by one of their opponents losing their turn. Of course, that really makes their story much less interesting.

However, both of these points very much pale to the simple fact that what they're demanding is quite simply impossible to do. Are they expecting CC to go through each and every game and reset them back to how everything was before the server went down? Are you serious? Do you realize what that would take? And for what, so a bunch of games being played for nothing more than idle enjoyment are set straight? Sorry, I suppose I have a tad bit too much perspective to demand or expect that sort of thing.

See, I run a restaurant. For my entire career, I've had to deal with people who complain. Fortunately, between the fact that, well, we don't mess up very often at all, and I happen to have a very nice customer base, I don't have to deal with this much. None the less, the first thing I have to discern is whether or not the person griping is actually trying to work towards resolution or if they're just bitching for bitching sake. See, I'm all about solving problems, but I'm not about just letting some blow-hard scream just to feel better. If there's some suitable solution to a problem that is even remotely my fault (even indirectly), let's do it. This, however, would not be the equivalent of one of those cases. This is some self-important <<>> venting. Something not at all unlike the numerous dice threads.

So, there you have it. Now, you're free to do with this whatever you like. However, you might want to rethink the whole "I will not stay silent" bit unless you've got something better to bring.

Well, I will be the last one to fault your post. I understand the logistics behind performing a fix on this, and I agree it's probably not even possible. I don't even care about the points I might have won if I'd won this game, but I still don't think it would be that difficult to do a points adjustment so I, and those like me, don't get penalized. But even that is not my point...my point is there are people with legitimate gripes who are being trashed by other more senior members. I'm pretty sure we all paid the same amount to be a part of this site. Your rank, points, and gameplay habits shouldn't even be a part of the discussion.

Did I make them a part of it? I think the gripe is silly and btw, the points adjustment is not much of a fix. How do we determine who gets them? Because they said they would have won had they not missed their turn?

I suppose I owe you one more bit of why. See, if people can bring whatever gripe they want to into the GD without fear of being exposed as a whiner, this freaking thing will be overrun in a matter of days. I don't immediately jump down the throat of anyone who complains. Hell, I'm in the process of complaining that the new ratings system is total crap and completely useless. If somebody wants to challenge that, be my guest. Though, at the risk of sidetracking this thing, they'd better freaking come up with something better than, "Just be patient, it will work itself out".

So, I'm absolutely certain that people lost games due to the server crashing. I was lucky enough to not have any games at critical junctures, so I didn't. Had I lost a game or even two, however, I'd be man enough to look at it no differently than losing a game due to any other version of bad luck. See CC didn't screw them any more than CC hooked up the player that benefited from their loss. CC crapped the bed, plain and simple. But those that were screwed were screwed by the same misfortune that gives you ones when you need anything but when you're fail to eliminate a player with 5 cards and 20 v 8 turns into 1v2. They were just screwed by luck.

This is why I will pee all over this kind of thread, because dude is whining and has no legit solution to how to fix it besides, "Make me happy again!"

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I'm just getting an elitist feel from some of the people here, and it bothers me. I'm not as concerned about the points, but that the OP has a right to preach his dis-satisfaction.

Now, on to more relevant topics, what is up with the site today? I'm afraid to get into any new games until all this gets fixed.

You'll get used to the elitist feel. For some amusement and perhaps a little salve, take a read of my General Congrats thread, I started it for that very reason.

The site does seem to be slow, but you can be sure the powers that be will be 'no the case' so to speak.

You're confusing the right to be able to voice your opinion and the irrational expectation that everyone needs to be nice to you if they think your opinion is lame, whiny, or otherwise BS.

The OP does have the right to voice his/her dissatisfaction. Just as poster #2 had the right to post a pic of a kid crying. That wasn't posted by a mod or the owners of the site, just another paying member. So being mad at CC because one of the users made a smart aleck post is silly. Everyone can judge the argument on it's merits. I would score it Detlef 1000, Bummers 2 and OP...well we won't know since my server shut down before I could award him any points.
