According to the guideline of the SITE, getting a 3 is not the equivalent of getting "dinged", JR. Yes, you don't agree with the guidelines of the site, but that doesn't mean getting a 3 is bad.

yes it does. i don't want 3's. i had all positive feedbacks, i fully expect to be between 4 and 5 stars under this new rating... it is going to shake out that way, and if you look at it right now, it is already heading that way.-0

Guys, it's only an issue because you let it be so. As inane as I find the new ratings to be, I'm even more amazed by those who are outraged by having less than perfect records in it. Perhaps it's because, by nature of my industry, I'm judged and graded all the time. Because you need to learn to not care about baseless critiques which is exactly what these are. Completely arbitrary versions of what is and isn't good. As has been noted, within weeks, all of us are gong to have the same rating and that rating is going to be about 4.5. It will mean nothing. Owen, JR, you two of all people know better than to let this crap bother you.

OK I changed my mind. Should have an auto-attendance rating thing, but only concerning whether or not turns were missed. None of this bs, it took him 5 hours to take his turn he only gets 4 stars..

IF automated it should be:

5 stars for 0 missed turns. You simply can't improve on zero missed turns. To paraphrase Spinal Tap: There is none more better than none missed turns.

4 stars for 1 missed turn. Some games go on for weeks or months (yes, I play no cards) and we all have the odd emergency, weekend away, whatever.

3 stars for 2 or 3 missed turns, non consecutive. Again in a long no cards or 8 player game on a big map this is going to happen occasionally, so maybe one was an accident, the second was when the cooling fans in the server overheated...

2 stars is 4 to 5 missed turns or 2 consecutive missed turns. OK Now attendance is starting to deteriorate. Missing that many turns deserves to be marked down.

1 star is 6 or more missed turns or 3 consecutive and kicked from the game. Shoddy play. No further explanation required.

This is my report and I commend it to the house.

per 100 rounds or the whole game? I have some damn long games going on. Missing two turns in 6 months is easy.

Yeah, that's why I said to do away with attendance rating completely and instead automatically calculate how quickly a player takes their turns on average and how many turns the player has missed/game.

No stars at all for attendance, just the numbers.

While I think mighty's proposal is a bit to liberal and the OP's way to strict) I do agree that a automated rating/meter for attendance would be a great idea.

In fact I'll go so far as to say that they can take away the rest of the ratings for all I care as long as we get a good way of spotting deadbeats/turnmissers (and preferably also a gauge on slow/fast turn takers).

I agree, although I think if we're going to have any 'star' based, subjective metric, it should be a rating of a players tactical ability.

Call it 'Strategy' or something. Come to think of it, we already have that, don't we. It's called rank. Never mind. Although I would like to point out that rank is automatic already.

No I like the ratings, just don't agree with the attendance thing and the fact that there's no moderation...
