Bombardment? WTH is this?

Postby IronE.GLE on Wed Jun 25, 2008 9:57 pm

So I'm playing a game on New World and I think that I'm in complete control of the game after eliminated 2 player in one turn, using 3 sets in that turn and heavily fortifying my territories against attack. Then I look at the game a few hours later and someone with a 22 armies took out over 40 armies in a single turn. Two of these territories were bombarded and annihilated, both of which were stacked with armies.

What I want to know is how the bombardment works, what situations can you use it and how do you select a bombardment attack?
There is no luck, only preparation and execution.

Alliances are for the weak, whimpering masses looking for someone to hold their hand through the storm.

Only a handful of maps have that option in the game. I am not sure off the top of my head every map that has it. When you bombard a territory, you do not gain the territory from the opposite user. It just turns into a neutral. If you both had a large stack then it all came down to how well the other person's dice was.

Do you have BOB? If you have that in firefox then you can see where you get bombarded from in the particular maps.

If this doesn't make sense..... I blame the Johnnie Walker.

I do have BOB but I just never noticed any option for bombardment. I wondered if it was some way to take out a superior force but apparently the guy just had amazing dice. We'll see how much he cheers for his luck when I wipe his sorry ass off the board this next turn [-X

Let the power be with you then. Don't forget to blow your dice first ;)

Dice don't determine games. They are only a speed bump along the way to domination. Superior strategy, patience and vision will win 99.99% of the time.

"All European countries can attack their own landing point (and vice versa) and bombard any other territory within their empire."

Pretty much France can attack it's landing point and bombard all other French territories. Same goes for all the other countries that are shown in the upper right corner of the map.

Does that make sense? Not sure I made that clear, I'm really tired :(

there is no bombardment option. it is an aspect of gameplay that some map makers want to use on their maps. new world has it that european homelands can bombard it's terits within its empire excluding the landing point. for example, Britain can attack british 1, 2 and 3, but not take it over.... pretty much what fuzzy pengui said...
