A hell of a lot can go against you in 1v1. A short list:
- The initial drop - Possibility of a continent immediately, especially on maps like Doodle and World 2.1
- The fortification lines - I lost one game because I had 5 separate areas, my opponent had 2, and it was unlimited.
- Who goes first - Start with 12 provinces each, player who goes first has a massive advantage
- Who gets cards first - First cash-in can pretty much end a game there and then
But, it can be very enjoyable. It's a lot of risk, but it also forces you to use good tactics. There are some players with massive win rates from 1v1. I firmly believe it's about the way you play your position, not what position the randomometer gives you
