Shut Down the Pleasant Chaps

I am posting this in General Discussion because it is more of a discussion based thread rather than a technical suggestion or flame.

I feel that the motives of the Pleasant Chaps usergroup are in bad taste. In their own words, their only purpose is

flaming noobs/idiots and being the kings of your puny forums. Also we sometimes play Risk to pass the time

The group itself is not here to play risk as the site was originally intended for. Their purpose is to flame others. While some people may think this is acceptable on a site that has a flaming forum, I would like to remind everybody that the forum itself is not being used as was originally intended. The founders of this site set it up so that opponents could take out their game-related frustrations on each other. Rather than bugging other players by fighting in game chat, they could take it to a designated place and get things sorted out there. Andy Dufresne said it best: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=29341.

Over the time I have been here, flame wars has gone way off the track that was originally intended. Most of the insults now have nothing to do with the game of risk itself. It is a place where cliques and buddies get together to flame other cliques and buddies. The Pleasant Chaps theme revolves around abusing what once was a useful forum.

Maybe the most disgusting example of what this clan likes to do is the sxkitten thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=31515&hilit=s.xkitten.
Stuff such as that may be funny to some, but these are real people whose dignity and real life reputation are getting destroyed. Was ruining lives the purpose of the site when it first came out?

I also find their one banner very offensive. It depicts a battered woman holding her infant in her arms. It is a clear cut case of advocating domestic violence, something I am sure many here would be appaulled by.

Something needs to be done about this "clan". They are a danger to our site and to other people's lives, and they take pride in it. For an overview of the site, its members, and its twisted motives, see: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=28306&hilit=pleasant+chaps

i dont really care.
i bet their forum is inactive anyway, and i bet you only want their usergroup banned because they wouldnt let you in?

Where is some aggressive moderating around when you need it? Let's take this to Flame Wars since this is a personal attack on a clan (the very definition of the purpose of Flame Wars) . .

And if being simply observant doesn't get this thread moved . . . Release the Hounds!

Curmudgeon, I am offended by your sig. I believe in the use of digital clocks, since they are more accurate. Please disband your clan, remove your sig, and cancel your membership.

The title of the thread is "shut down" the pleasant chaps, but the question is whether they should be "allowed". Therefore, this poll will have inaccurate results, due to people who are unobservant and/or who don't care much about wrump's polls.

This post was never intended to be about me so for those of you trolling another one of my threads- knock it off! This is not a place to pile on for no reason nor is it a place for flames. I am welcoming good discussion and I must say I am very disappointed in those of you who tried to ruin this thread. I will repeat, this thread is not about me or about any bias I may have. Read the subject matter, give your opinions, don't flame, don't worry about who posted it because that is no relevant. Now let's try and act decent.

Edited to add: Feel free to move it to flame wars. The people here are not capable of taking part in any real discussion. The posters in General Discussion have failed me again.

First off, YOU wump need to mind your own business, secondly this is not YOUR site, you don't own anything here.
thirdly if this site is ruining your life, then you need to get a better life. fourthly YOU haven't been in flame wars since it started, so how do you know if it has gone down hill or changed, Actually, it was better off before you were there whining and bitching and crying to the mods everyday.

If you have any problems with a user, or group of users, here are a number of steps you can take:

1. Contact them and work it out.
2. Add them to your Foe List. You won't have to play games or read their posts.
3. If you perceive severe harassment, feel free to contact a Moderator, or Twill, or Myself, and we will handle it.
