cashing in multiple sets

hello,
i'm new to the game and have a quick Question:
how can you cash in receive multiple cards in one round and cash them in during the round for
every land you conquer? i only see that i receive one card per round, and cash them in at the beginning.
but i've seen a player cash in multiple sets and receive nearly 50 troops in the 5th round of the game.

There are no wild cards. You cannot accumulate more than 5 cards, therefore there may be a mid-turn cashing in of sets after eliminating an opponent.
