Game Finder gripe

Postby Azathoth on Thu Sep 11, 2008 8:37 am

It seems whenever I go looking for a casual game these days, I have to weed through forty-billion copies of the exact same game before I can find one I like.

Is this a problem for anyone else? If so, is there a way around it?

Narrow the search down. Say you're only looking for 4,5 and 6-player games, that are either Standard or Terminator, with Flat Rate or Escalating cards. Tick all the appropriate boxes and there's far less games to go through.

your way around it is here http://www.conquerclub.com/player.php?mode=find

Just remember to tick the box that says waiting for players and narrow the search to only include the maps, game types, cards etc that u r wanting to join

I like how this thread is entitled "Game Finder gripe", and you link me to the Game Finder as a means of solving my problem.

No -- read my thread again, please. I'm using the Game Finder. I'm finding obscene amounts of copies of the same game. I am not saying "omg ther r so mny gamez lulz". I am saying "why the hell are there two pages of 6-player standard sequential games on Doodle Earth started by AnnoyingGuyXXX"?

Let's have another go at this, yeah?

There are that many because he wants to play that many, it's not that hard to figure out really. ;)

Best way to do this is narrow your settings as much as possible and search more than once if you want to find games on different maps. I like I will go and check all the games on France, then all the games on Classic , then whatever map / settings I want..

There is no real way around this. People can create up to 50 games of the same type. About all you can do is maybe try a differant game type (switch one of the settings), start your own game or bear with it.

Oh and putting annoying guy on your ignore list won't help either -- that just keeps them from joining your games.

You COULD try joining ALL of his games and then hope annoying guy gets annoyed enough to stop doing it ;)

Just make your own games then. If others have created games with the same settings, you'll get the option of joining those, instead of creating your own, so you'll get the game you like one way or another

Narrow your search and keep it simple. I usually only have a handful of results.
As stated above, creating a game with your preferred settings is easy too.
