Points given back

Postby shanksdigs on Sun Sep 14, 2008 3:51 pm

Sorry that I am not following this forum's guidelines specifically, maybe moderators can tell me where to post this comment.

Essentially, I am a noob, so please forgive any noobliness in this comment:

I've read a number of postings about players with multis and players who appear to have secret alliances and/or who cheat to win. What I notice as a comon theme is that the comments from the moderators (I assume they are moderators) state that the offended players do not get their points back.

I offer that players should get their points back from cheaters, multis, and their ilk. Similarly no one should benefit from having played against a multi, cheater, [insert descriptive term here]. Wouldn't it be possible to void all the games the offendeR played in?

nope

that would cause massive strain on the server due to the amount of multis busted also they would have to go back through 100's of games in some cases. This would slow the site down

Its not the 100s of games that a multi may play thats the problem, its the fact that the point gain or loss 2 million games ago could end up effecting 100,000s of games as lets say the multi only played JR, then JR played 1000 games and each of those people played 100 and then there are the people those people played and such, 1 game could cause the need for so many point totals to be recalculated that the cc couldnt handle it.

I think the simplest solution is to void any recalculation, instead, a refund of the points gained by the multi, and all other games scores would be left intact.

well u could just put that into effect now for future games and not for the past games.(when i say future games i mean games that are being played as it is put into effect would not be effected)

the game server is just a giant database, right? I think if the writers of the database put a control in that gives the moderators the power to declare a winner...or...if once a player is removed from the server, the games automatically revert to show the winner to be the person who remained in the game. Thoughts?

shanks, your solution does not take into account the far reaching rammifications of recalculating points. it wouldn't be for just ONE game or a FEW games.-0
