Bombarding question

I seem to recall in games screwing up and bombing myself. Now I notice that you can't seem to bombard your own territory. Is this a rule change, or I am just remembering stuff wrong?

I think you're possibly remembering wrong.

The classic mistake with bombardment is that you keep on bombarding after the defending player armies have been defeated and replaced with a single neutral army. You can continue to bombard that single neutral army as long as you like, and use up your own attacking force in the process, but the single neutral army will remain no matter what.

No, maybe I was thinking of bombing a teammate (yeah, now everyone's going to want to play teams with me, right?) but I thought in the past I had accidentally bombed myself.
