How many maps would you like to see as the cut off point?

You know what, in all of this, what would really be useful too would be map ratings! Like what we have with our precious little profiles.

Just let us tack up star ratings on the maps. It'd give the cartographers some actual feedback, and might help steer the development of maps in the future. I'm not going to go lurk in the cartography section of the forums, cause that's not within my skill set.

If enough people think this is a good idea here, I might put up a thread in suggs and buggs.

EDIT: ANOTHER BENEFIT TO MAP RATINGS, that I just thought of would be to include an "attendance" percentage as well. Then we could all determine which maps are the most commonly deadbeated on.

From there, you can organize the maps so that newbies won't see the most commonly deadbeated on maps very easily, and from there, might stem the tide and progression of noob farming.

If the loophole won't be closed, why not make that game more difficult?

I don't know if map ratings would help much... if I don't like a map I just don't play it again. But I think you might've tripped into a good idea with the attendance percentage... only instead of just organizing the maps to make high deadbeat maps hard to find, make them like team games... you can't play them until you've completed a few games. Maybe once the maps are organized into groups, have a representative or two (maybe more, depending) from each group be available to new players, and once they've completed a few games they gain access to the rest?

You're more than welcome to post any feedback about the geographically accurate Europe map in the thread in the foundry... The map is still in Beta, so there is still room for a tweak or two if necessary.

The map organisation debate has been going on for a while now, but I still see that as one of the key things that would improve the site.

As for maps making it through the foundry, it takes a lot of effort to get a map into play. The mapmaking process works in stages, and the quality of each map in each stage generally gets better and better. The whole process is entirely community-driven - if you want to make a change, BE the change ;-)

I really like the look of the new Europe map. I won't play it in Beta but I look forward to playing it once it goes live.

Clunky... A bit harsh Owenshooter?

At least it actually looks like a sodding map you should be playing Risk on, so it is way ahead of a lot of the recent efforts to come out.

so the site should promote the best of the bunch
not offer a mish mash of good and bad to anyone who joins up.

The answer to this, of course, is pimpdave's idea, which I think is a great one:

The reason love this site is the maps I generally play all maps the same amount...If the maps stopped I would be very disappointed. I didn't vote because there was not a greater then 175 option.
Highest point total 2774 and a rank of Colonel.
