Oops...I meant "Note to Self"

Postby Lance Thrust on Thu Oct 04, 2007 3:04 pm

When I am typing notes for my next attack, etc, before I hit submit, I occasionally catch myself forgetting to click "Note to Self" . So far, I have been lucky, and haven't given away my hand. But I was wondering...has anyone else been less fortunate?

Have you given away your tactics...embarrassed yourself?

Do tell...

I admit that I don't use "Note to Self." But, it's actually a nice tool to let you know what you were thinking several days ago (before x different players changed the board). That way you have a jumping off point for today.

However, I have given away my strategy in a team game - by not clicking on "Teammates Only." Still managed to win the game (my teammates thought I had done it on purpose to fool the other team and went against my advice *lol*)

Never use it. I'm lucky enough to have a solid memory, so even if a 6p singles game takes a week to get back around to my turn while I play 30 other games I still have a general idea of what my line of thinking is/was. If not, I just look at the game log to see what I did for the past two turns and that jogs memory.

Only if I want to keep track of how many armies I have on a particular country to find out if someone else is attacking me with only 4 or 5 armies every turn. Attacks that don't take a country still don't show up in the gamelog so there's really no other way than to make a note of how many armies you have and see if they have decreased.

QFT!

Though I have embarrassed myself many times in team games, by never pressing the to all button.

I've done the opposite - i.e. talked to team instead of to all - at the end of a game...

If you're clever about it, it can be used to give out false information. Say I have S. America and some scattered territories in Asia and Europe and need to break a bonus in N America. Then I'll type a note to all: ""Use set to break Central America", and then either write "oops", or nothing at all and let them infer what they will. What happens is that the guy in N America will fort up Central, and make it easier to attack Greenland or Kamchatka.

I once stuffed up in a doubles game by telling my teammate what cards I had, which colour and what territory. And I accidentaly didn't tell just him but everyone!

I always make a new plan based on current data so I don't use self-notes.

I might try it for this purpose though. It might be valuable to know who's pecking without having to scrutinize the game log to find out.

I once made sixteen secret alliances with myself in one turn.
