I think it's all fine and good to take all the time in the world to be sure the next change doesn't create yet another debacle, but in the meantime why not simply PUT IT BACK the way it was?

And yet, WE ARE BEING FORCED TO CONTINUE TO PLAY ON IT...

I looked thru page after page in the Map Foundry thread, but saw NO indication of when we will actually see some change... This is getting extremely frustrating for many people...

I have stopped starting or joining any classic games (1 exception due to lapse of memory)... and yet I am forced to play this awful version day after day until my current games end.

Let me say just a few more things before I get off my soapbox...

1) I appreciate the good intentions that created the change in the 1st place
2) I appreciate the efforts being made to improve the current situation
3) I appreciate that Lack is involved and committed to a change
4) But I AM REALLY PISSED OFF that it has been decided to leave this in its current botched condition for what has already felt like an eternity. MY PATIENCE IS AT AN END!!!!

ps- this is a 3 day only poll... i want it all to end!!!

I absolutely concur. Seems ludicrous that we wouldn't just go back to the old version while this all gets sorted out. It's interesting to watch a business radioactively piss off a ton of its long-time customers in the interest of a vocal minority. Fascinating, really.

that isn't what she said at all. Her comment refered to the fact that the version being used now is polling at 12% in favour, yet we have to keep playing on it.

Thats because they changed a couple things with this new crappier map... such as the placing of the army circles, colours on the map and the name tags. I'm sure that if the old version were placed in the poll, it would win by a mile. Actually, why wasn't the old map in the poll? I think it was much better than any of the options available atm.

I don't think they know that it's an issue. What we need is more threads about it... five new ones a day should be enough. And when they all get merged, well, we can just make more. WE HAVE THE POWER TO ANNOY EVERYONE ELSE ON THE FORUM, WE MUST USE IT! Long live the classic Classic, that brutal and disfigured version of the Risk board. OUR brutal and disfigured version. noooo i don't think that's the whole story (although people by definition do not enjoy change which they have not chosen .. genuinely not a dig just an acceptance of the reality) . I think more that it is proof the shadows were not intrusive and they did their job without imposing themselves upon the map.

I myself prefer the older version too, but am not at all worried about the new one, because though nothing happens overnight...CC seems to find a way of making everything right...I have faith... nothing wrong with trying a few new ideas out...no change is no good...but ive seen enough to assume that much thought and work is going into another revamp... time will indeed heal all wounds...

Im sure our old friend will be back soon...perhaps with a facelift yet, but I highly doubt the botox injections they gave it this time will be continued....as with axel rose..the botox did cure the problems such as lines and wrinkles...but the side effect was looking absolutely ridiculous.... Lets wait and see what the surgeons can come up with....the revamping of the map has become as complicated as an escalating with the best players on it....

yeah I have Already Pie .. It is not possible as it stands. they would need to make another map as co-ordinates are different:

how about we revert back to the original map but add a user script option for the visually impaired to make the continents white or 1 neutral colour? (more similar to the AOM and Middle East)

No not really possible as the army counts have moved - and thus wouldn't be centralised.

If the *new* image is modified to have different versions and these are uploaded on the site somewhere - then it could be done... But at the moment no.

For Lack to add an option to allow more than 1 image is again a lot of work to do for him - especially when there's more cooler stuff going forward (not backward) that I'm sure he would like to do.

the shadows are part of the image so changing them would still need changing the image. unless he comes up with a solution to overlay another image on top, but then the new image would obstruct the army numbers. so in other words, not possible.

I assume it would work if the disks were left off the main image and were only put there by the userscript?

Would that work? that sounds like a bloody sensible answer to me. I realise that not everyone can get Firefox but i think Lack could do it?
