Clickys in freestyle speed games. What are your thoughts?

Here's my opinion...

I think clickys give an unfair advantage to those that use them, and allow for inflated scores to those that master them. I would say that if you can get good with clickys, you can almost make it to whatever rank you want... Regardless of your skill/strategy.

I wish there was a way for these people to be ranked separately from those of us who don't play this style. I would have a bunch more respect for the top 5/10 players on the scoreboard if that was the case.

Personally I wouldn't care too much if clickies were banned - I might stay at Colonel instead of Brigadier but you're utterly friggin' ridiculous to even insinuate that you can trash strategy down the game. I see multiple people using clickies but I'd say I'm better than a great deal because they still can't see the board (and there are those slower than me that can read it even better than me).

Sure, anyone can get them, but does everyone that plays know about them? I doubt it. I think if even one player playing in a speed game isn't using or can't use (not allowed to run it on their comp for whatever reason) clickys then those that are using them have an unfair advantage.

i use clickies to keep up with the likes of scott and rashid etc...
i wouldnt say they give me an advantage directly. they are way more effective in speed freestyle doubles games

Sure, anyone can get them, but does everyone that plays know about them? I doubt it. I think if even one player playing in a speed game isn't using or can't use (not allowed to run it on their comp for whatever reason) clickys then those that are using them have an unfair advantage.

Hardly - not everyone knows about strategy in this game either. The simple fact of people not knowing about them hardly legitimizes not using them when they are easy to find in the forums. If you want to use computer limitations, let's bitch about those who have poor connection with CC. Therefore freestyle speed games should not be allowed in the first place because some have an advantage over other people's computers!

i don't use any cheats, and avoid the styles of play that give others that use them, an advantage. that is how i deal with it. i don't play those settings. if you want to compete under certain settings, you not only need to have a sound strategy, but you need to have clickable maps and BoB... i prefer a more casual game where i can leisurely count my armies, check out borders and attack points, figure out who needs to be knocked back a bit for armies... you know, use my BRAIN on this casual gaming site, rather than a download and some code... however, if i ever dared to venture into the world which those tools are essential, i surely would not show up without them... why bring a pez dispenser to a gun fight?-0

I'll wait later to see where this thread goes before I post my opinion. But I'll comment briefly as I've tried before in similar threads (before it was moved to flame wars) I tried to play the top freestylers, until about 2 weeks ago without CM. It's certainly a disadvantage if you don't use it- not an unfair advantage if you do use it.

Btw- as most polls are, this one is biased as well. Perhaps the OP could edit it to get a more accurate assessment.

Clickable Maps are great! It does give a advantage against your opponents in speed games.. but is it unfair? Not at all.
If you are pissed at people who used Clickable Maps and own you.. then give this a thought.. Use It Yourself.

pretty much now i do. i found the other settings and types of games were not as casual and fun as what i was looking for. again, i play with real life friends and we use CC as an excuse to talk smack, bump chests, talk on skype, chat on the phone during the work week during the day, and just generally act like we are 14. i'm into the 24 hour turn, not the fast freestyle. and even in team freestyle, you can get your butt handed to you by CM's!!! i will admit, if i learned a bit more about freestyle, i would actually attempt a few more games.. who knows.. but again, i just enjoy using my brain, and not a program for CC...-0

I only use clickys when Im playing somebody else who is using them...or Im taking a turn in a seq game.

They do give an unfair advantage imo so I wish they would be gotten rid of all together =]

They definitely give an advantage- however, not unfairly so. Everyone is free to use it- and, to be honest, you'd have have a donkey's brain not to understand the simplicity of it. However- *manimal (aka westsidekilla06, assassinator07, Theblackmages, Themassivewanker, and so on) is the perfect example how you can be exceptionally fast witch CM, yet fail to be good.
The argumentation of CM enabling the player to reach any rank desired is limping at best- nowadays, about 70% of all freestyle speed players use that add-on- if you don't have the skill to best them, you won't gain. Simple as that. Give it some time, and CM won't even be a advantage anymore- everyone will be very fast.

I think as a purist that clicky maps and indeed BoB are works of the Devil but everybody has the opportunity to use them so they are not unfair, far worse is the loophole that allows point obsessed 'players' to stalk the unsuspecting in 1 v1 freestyle, high time this was stopped.

entitled to my opinion, and many share the same opinion. and i go so far as to say i understand why people use them, and for the type of games that you are involved in, you would have to be nuts to not use add-ons/dheats... i play casual 24 hour team sequential games... don't tell me how to feel about what i consider is laziness... CM's and BoB are cheats, period. i just choose to not play settings where they are necessary... i'm not asking you to not use them, i simply state that i don't use them. sooo, what is the hang up? you have people in this thread calling for them to be banned... that is ridiculous. i have a choice on this site, and i choose to not play settings where programs and connections give players an advantage, period. deal with it.-0

Clicky maps the games so much more fun... try playing an AoR map without it. Greatly enhances playing and I don't play without it, especially in speed games.

quickly browsing your games of your last 100, you've done 25 non-freestyle; not really understanding how with your supposed talent and self professed ability to reach 3000, why you can't even reach 2000 when every 3 out of 4 games you play is freestyle
