the spider has been deep in thought!

"Actually this is all meaningless ... Private games will have different influences to public games as they will be largely made up of specialists.

the higher rank and longer standing players will have different ratio's to mid term and new players as the beginning section of the CC 'career' will distort the figures to different degrees.

A total across the board study will not take into consideration the alternative influences. So personally nothing is provable and therefore i think it's all down to aliens!"

red 41/181 22.65%
green 34/181 18.78%
blue 25/181 13.81%
yellow 29/181 16.02%
teal 29/181 16.02%
pink 23/181 12.71%
All 6 player: Mainly Standard, a few Terminator and a very few Assassin

Based on my figures in isolation: as i say we need all figures to make this in any way useful
In my opinion, the only viable reason that red is the winner is that the game board and style is chosen by red.
I would say this could be a large factor in the other colours percentage. The speed at which the next slots are taken will depend on the keenness of the player to join; Green is more likely to be a specialist at the settings than the last to join (pink). Pink may just join as they will not have to wait as long to play and may know nothing about the tactics of the preferences chosen.

The Blue anomaly? well perhaps it's a Republican thing!

right that's it! this is wearing very thin!

Jim

I think that is a fairly accurate assumption (beings we do not have a way of gathering vast numbers into a database).

Green and Red have high win rates due to possible "specialization" on the settings...Blue and Yellow may have a little "specialization" or experience with tactics...and then you have Pink and Teal with low win rates due to the fact that these players are usually inexperienced and perhaps new to CC.

I can see that scenario now that you mentioned it, perhaps color has nothing to do with it? Perhaps most of you Red and Greens are more experienced Risk players?

You would completely have to randomise the color schemes and gather information from a large number of games to see if there is any "color advantage"...

I have played 3100 games. most of which have been red.

i have a 66% loss Stats so I play mostly 5 or 6 player. So red should be the color that wins the most

Then again, I know I have sometimes kept an eye on a public game for a few minutes to see if any high-ranked players were to join and ended up as yellow, pink or teal; this was before I got my premium btw.

Everybody is posting their stats - but they forget a MAJOR factor: their own skill/luck level. What you really need to do is post something that includes the variances on each color based on the number of games YOU play at each color.

Here is my list for the 92 (six-player) games I've played:
Code: Select all
        Win   Play    Win    Win     Pct%       Pct%     Pct%
(Me)  (Me) (Other)  (Total) (Color)     (Me)    (Other)
Red      0     1       24      24   26.09%     0.00%     26.37%
Green    1     8       14      15   16.30%    12.50%     16.67%
Blue     4    11       15      19   20.65%    36.36%     18.52%
Yellow   7    22       10      17   18.48%    31.82%     14.29%
Teal     2    24        8      10   10.87%     8.33%     11.76%
Pink     4    26        3       7    7.61%    15.38%      4.55%
        18    92       74      92

So, apparently - unless I'm playing blue or yellow, I drag down my color and let red win (which I don't play)

For open games:
Red (the 1st player)chooses the game conditions (as previously pointed out), these are presumably his preferred options - therefore an advantage. However he/she cannot know who his/her opponents will be - a disadvantage.

Magenta (the 6th player) has the advantage of knowing ALL the players in the game. They can decide to join or not based on the settings (which may not necessarily be their preferred) AND also any experience they have with the other players (based on rank/previous games/reputation).

Therefore surely the greatest advantages lies with these colours - and if the 6th player only searches for games on their preferred settings, and refuses to join games against more skilled opponents - undoubtedly Magenta.

I have no stats to back up my case. :)

I also know that sometimes, certain colors blend in with the background so well, that you can easily overlook them, especially if you are just running through your games quick. I think it is Blue on Argentina that fools me the most.

So there is another variable at play that would influence a colors particular advantage, and that would be the type and color of board you are playing on, since not all boards are the same color and style and therefor a certain color that would have an advantage 'blending' in, would not have that same advantage on another map. (Oh, another word for 'blending' in is 'camouflage'). :)

can we add the influence of you spelling colour with no 'u'? This means that U have been subtracted from colour! leading to a lack of empathy with the nature of colour itself!

Sorry, that is just poor "Angloish" on my part, Jimi. I will try better in the future. You know us American blokes are born and bred with not much empathy for anything...but I am trying...really! The world is getting smaller as we speak, and I am soon realizing that perhaps America is not at the center of everything. (or is it 'centre'?)
