The question should be, did you do anything to earn a rating above a 3? Not, "I didn't do anything to not deserve a 5." You're thinking backwards. Don't expect 5's, expect 3's... unless you did something amazing or impressive in the game.

So zimmah, your standard for average attendance is not missing any turns? How do you get an outstanding, taking extra turns?

The problem is that some might rate average attendance as 1 miss in 20 rounds, with an average of 12 hours between turns. Someone else will give a 1 or 2 for that same performance. Since these ratings are dependent on the person giving the rating and the categories are waaaay too broad, it will never be useful or indicative of player behavior.

no, take most of your turns within the 12 hour period would mean 4 stars by me, and you'll get 5 stars from me if you take most of them within 6 hours (and 6 hours means you'd be checking CC 4 or more times a day, which IMHO isn't that hard)

though yes, for someone taking extra turns i'd hand out a 5 for attendance, though a 1 for fair play (would average out at 3 anyways.)

Well, I hope for the sake of the work put into your new system you're right. Mind you, these threads don't begin to reach the majority of players. Sure, you guys can put an announcement on the top of the My Games page and direct everyone to a rating guide that most people might visit. However, like you said, it's going to take some serious brow beating to change the mindset of "what did I do wrong?"

Again, you admitted yourself that your initial ratings were 5s and had to go back and change them. Think about why you guys changed the system, because you were tired of people bitching to you about their feedback. Well, now everyone else is going to have to deal with it instead. So, because unlike you, we don't give a crap, we're ultimately going to take the path of least resistance. That path being everyone gets 5s so you don't have to deal with their crap.

Oh, and what's the over under on how long it takes before people start bitching to you about why they got a 2?

actually he's rated 3.3 which means he is just plain average. and even if he had 100% positives in the old system, 90% of the player had a 100% positive feedback, so he's still average.

show me where you found this "fact" or had it saved. you can't make blanket statements like that. 90% of players had 100% positives? that is just ridiculous. i had only positive feedbacks under the old system, and i know it is going to take one game to piss someone off or to play someone that has no idea what is going on, for me to get a few 1's. this new system is pretty whack and is going to be even more useless than the old one. at least in the old system, you could read about a player and come away with a pretty clear idea of the type of player they were. i hope all the feedback complainers are more than satisfied with this new system that has been brought down from the mountain of the CC Gods, for us...-0

p.s.-yeah, yeah, yeah... it will all shake out.. we are all learning... blah, blah, blah... agree with the idea of the "system" calculating some of the stars for us, and not allowing players too.

oh, the irony... same 15 year old kid that ruined my perfect feedback rating for over a year, due to a missed turn, is upset his 4 day reign of a perfect rating is over! ha! hilarious! and he ruined mine intentionally, with great zeal and lust. at least with the old system, people could see that i had ONE negative, read it, and realize the 15 year old kid that left it was abusive and called me a faggot in pm's and i missed due to real life issues (registering my kid for summer school). under this new system, people are only going to see a number, base a decision on what THEY believe the rating means, and there is no way for them to read any response from the player about the poor star rating. in paradice's defense, if he could put up a response like he did in the thread OR file an eticket to have it removed, both would be remedies to the situation. hell, he would even get the feedback removed, without a problem. under this system, he is stuck with it, period.-0

As I think I posting in one of the other threads, the idea of "average" is just completely assanine. Feedback works only because of reciprocity, not because of objectivity. If you give a 3, expect a 3 back unless there is something the other guy did that will be obvious to him as to why you didn't give him a 5. Real life performance is not a bell curve folks... that's just how academia manages supply and demand and make shit loads of money in the process.
