I've been supporting the creation of the Godless Heathens(a clan for atheists) from the get-go, however a clan for a race should not even be compared to a clan for religious groups as there are some sharp contrasts.
One of the largest differences is a person cannot control their skin color, but can control one's beliefs. It is not the white man's fault he's white. Nor is it the oriental man's fault that he's oriental. Therefore why should you create a clan based on uncontrollable factors? A race-oriented clan would attain members based upon luck of the draw, not common ideas, not skill-level, and not even companionship. What is the point?
Another key difference is to protect CC from race battles both in-game and in-forum. Race is a touchy issue, it shouldn't be that way, but reality is that acknowledging race naturally creates conflict, CC has enough conflict already! You would probably point out that there could likely be such conflicts between religious groups. The Godless Heathens have spoken of having clan challenges with the JFC and they pledge that it shall be respectful however I am personally fearful that such matches could turn ugly and am positive that race-oriented clans would turn into hateful battles. It's simply natural, however is not necessary on CC.
Also, a Christian clan, such as the Jesus Freaks(JFC), improves CC's society whereas I believe a race clan would damage the community. A religious-based usergroup allows persons of the same faith to discuss matters that deal with their particular faith outside of the main forums, away from doubters who feel the need to cause a non-stop nuisance. However what will a racist clan talk about? How white guys can't jump nor dance? I'm sorry, but if the only group you can find to join is based upon your skin color, you're a pretty lame individual.

Caleb I agree with most of your points (please see my earlier post on page 3) except the part in red. That is a biased statement. Of course you believe that your group makes the world a better place but in reality it has little effect on people outside of your clan. It is a part of human nature to join a group. Speaking from an evolutionary point of view there is safety in numbers and speaking from a social point of view we as humans feel a need to identify with a group of people to feel accepted and to justify our beliefs about the world at large. This is why we join groups/cliques that have a similar belief system as ours. This is not limited to religious beliefs by any means. People who cheer for the same sport team are part of a group and they justify their choice of team by making their team seem better while often belittling the other teams. This rivalry between groups is mostly between groups who are similar in beliefs and values (i.e. religious based - Christians/Atheists are both based on religion just on opposite ends of the religious scale). While there is a womens only clan here on CC I think that if there was a men's only clan you would quickly see some rivalry between the two simply because the members of each group would try to make their group look better by belittling the other (i.e. girls rule while boys drool

). Within the women's only group there are many sub-groups based on similarities/differences between the women. The women's only clan is a broad group brought together by their similarity of gender but within it you will see sub-groups of women who are married/have children, single mothers, lesbians, grandmothers, young women, cougars, etc. Although I am a member of the women's only clan you will not see me posting in the thread "pictures of our kids" because I don't have children but you might see me posting in the "pictures of our pets" because I do have a pet. I am sure this is the same for the JFC's as there are many sub groups within Christianity (Baptists, Anglicans, etc.). A white's only clan would have the same kind of sub-groups that would form within it (people who can dance, sports fans, people who are racist, etc.). I also think that if a white's only clan formed there would be a formation of other groups based on ethnicity and skin colour. These clans would start their own wars to justify why their group is better than the rest. Would it be a light rivalry with much jocularity or would it quickly degrade into a general riot in the forums? Depends on how much the individuals have invested in their group and how secure they feel in their groups overall standing within the world at large. It doesn't matter who wanted to start the clan I think that people would join for their own reasons/motivations which may include racial superiority which never leads to a good thing.
That's my rant for the day - I'm gonna go drink my coffee and try to wake up
