Mm... I should explain that, that's actually a legitimate question. It recently took me a week of digging back through old e-mails and notes to find my username and password for my old account when I wanted to start playing again after a year off. I did all that because I firmly agree with and support the site rules about multis.
I could easily have started another account. There's even a good chance I wouldn't have been busted... having been absent for a
year and playing from a different computer and ISP. And I wouldn't have lost anything important by it... I'm here to have fun playing, not to climb the ladder. (Well... I do enjoy looking back at my old games and remembering all those doubles games with poo-maker when he was a lowly major. That's a nice benefit to having my old account.) But it was important to me to uphold the rules of the site. I figure if I want to play here, I should play by the rules, right from the start. You can probably understand my frustration when I see a repeat multi who has received grace from the mods whining and complaining that he isn't being treated fairly.
Furthermore, I have some history with this site I don't think any of you have. I was here for dugcarr1, and even before that, back in the days when the 'stachewackers were bragging it up about how they had chased Twill away, then screaming because they got a temporary forum ban. So I've seen many of the major screaming moments where the mods were attacked the most by site members. And in most cases, I find that the people who whine and complain the most about how the mods are unfair are the people most willing to play fast and loose with the rules when applied to them, in turn. This, it seems clear, is another such case.
I'm not saying the system's perfect. When I was in the Dragoons, we had some issues with a mod who was inflexible to the extreme. But if you're going to play here, you've got to be willing to play by the rules you agreed to use when you came.
Oh, and turtlewax? I was premium for a year. I just happen to be satisfied with four games right now, and I have no need/desire for private or speed games. Careful what charges you toss around without full information.
