Mongol Empire continent army bonus!?

At first the Mongol Empire map looked fun. Then I played it 5 times and lost 4. Then I noticed the army bonus for the continents. The highest bonus is for Yuan Khanate with 6. True, this is one of the largest continents for the map, however it has 4 land locked territories and only 5 points of contact with other territories. Then you have Chaghadi Khanate with 1 land locked territory and 7 points of contact with other territories and it is only worth 4 bonus armies. Does this seem strange? Maybe it's not. Is there some type of ratio for determining the army bonuses? Take a look at the other continents and see for yourself that there is something wrong with the bonus army system for this map. Especially Great Khanate, with the second least amount of bonus armies and it has the word GREAT in its name!!

the mongol empire map (like all recent maps) have been put through the map foundry process and were quenched when every little detail was perfect. that includes bonuses. so yeah i think the bonuses are fine. if you don't like it then don't play it. but judging by the number of people that play it and love it i'd say the map is pretty darn good.

I understand the foundry process. I think the map is a great idea and that is why I played it and I'm sure that's why others have played as well. Also it is a new map so tons of people will play it regardless. I just don't understand the way the continent bonus is figured. I would think that it determined by a type of reward equation. If you have to defend a lot of territories from direct conflict then you should be rewarded for that achievement of defending. If this is the case then I still stand be initial statement. I think a good comparison is look at the classic map. Europe has many attack points and not the most territories, however has a large army bonus. I would think that this would coincide with Chaghadi Khanate of the Mongol map.

the continents cannot be imbalacned (unless through stupid numbers) because if a continent is worth more then it encourages more people to go for it so it becomes harder hold the continent meaning it deserves the highest. Bonus

I have a problem with this answer. Your logic implies that the highest army bonus continent draws more people to it making it deserve the high army bonus. That makes no since. You could arbitrarily put the highest army bonus on any continent, even the smallest, per say Oceania. A continent can't just deserve a high army bonus because the maker likes an area. That is my thought at least. If you look at other maps they all follow the general idea of reward based system. Take a look at Middle East, the Near East continent has the most because it is most vulnerable. Then look to Ancient Greece with Athens having the highest army bonus. I'm opening to an explanation for how the bonuses are distributed. I'm trying to encourage thinking about the Mongol Empire map. I'll gladly except defeat when a true explanation is given.

i didnt explain it well, obviously you cant be silly and make oceania the highest but giving it say a 4 bonus would mean people are morelikely to epend more armies fighting over that continent. So it evens itself out. Obviously you cannot be silly with this logic otherwise if you happened to be dealt the continent from the start you would be at a massive advantage.
There can be no formula for working out gameplay as not every map should be like classic with 2 small continents a big continent and 3 medium sized continents. The gameplay is different not wrong and it is actually my new favourite map

I understand your point more clearly now boberz. I too don't want all maps to be like classic. However, if I'm understanding you right then the bonus armies are used to attract competition and battle. I think that is what you have meant. Now I do agree with this, but the case for the Mongol Empire is different. Unless the maker wanted a skirmish in the lower right corner.
I think that the focus of this map would be more towards the center or at least maybe where more continents come in contact with each other. Thus making a point distribution higher to either Chaghadi Khanate or Great Khanate. Otherwise with the points highest in Yuan Khanate then the map is tailored to the maker's interests.
I enjoy the maps more where there is more conflict, like Middle East with the highest continent in the middle and all fighting to secure it or at least prevent someone from taking it.

What I would ask is why all these people come yapping about new maps when they haven't been seen in the foundry - post there when they're being developed because all the help possible to make CC the best it can be is needed. Seriously, a lot of people complain about maps when they didn't even try to put in any input into their construction. Some of the polls are a great example of this: sometimes only 50 or so people vote - CC has 2000 times that number (although a lot of people never come back)

I agree RobinJ. I will be looking at maps in the Foundry now and taking a more active role. Along with that though I would hope that all opinions are considered to some extent. Just like it shows that people only view the posts and don't vote, it also shows that people may just read and do nothing about a post. I will take you advise and post more in the Foundry. I'm going to read some of the posts right now. Thanks!
