Have the rules changed since I last played?

I am in a game where someone has missed more than three turns but not all in a row. Seems to almost be every second go, out of 8 rounds they have only played two in a row. I feel like they may be abusing the system so they can get their points multiplied. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thats how the system has always worked.
Its only 3 turns in a row before you get kicked out. Some people do use this system to gain extra players, but since thats the system, you can't really call it abuse.
I for one get alot of stick for it, because I can't get online on weekends, so end up missing 1 or 2 turns. Can't be helped, just remember that if someone missed a turn, doesn't automatically mean they will deadbeat, so be sure to guard against them getting double or triple armies.

You can call it abuse if you want, if the person is doing it intentionally in order to subvert the intent of the game rules. (As opposed to doing it because they just can't get online some days.) You don't have to call it abuse, if you don't feel that it is, but you're still free to. You just can't reasonably call it cheating.

The person has missed four turns... is that allowed? That was more my question, has it changed to three in a row or three in the whole game?

Its ok I checked and their missing turns is genuine as they had missed them in other games. Appologies if I offended anyone but the rules used to be different and I just wanted to check, it wasnt meant to be me accusing anyone, it was more an example of why I asked the question.
