REAL TIME GAME FORUM

Sometimes the slow pace of a CC game is nice, but other times you just can't wait to take that turn and enjoy the thrill of crushing an opponent (or worse...suffer the agony of one territory, 4 unmatched cards and the impending peril)

Since we cannot (yet) create a real-time game, I have a (hopefully) feasible solution:

One person posts ON THIS FORUM, the date and time of a game that is intended to be in real time. Others can log into this forum and see when that time will be, and they can then join the game at the instructed time.

As a first test run: I will be setting up a game at 11amEST on Monday, February 13. Game style is Standard, Classical, Escalating and Unlimited.

Then at 11am EST I will create the game (don't want to do it earlier so other non-real-time players have a lower chance of joining) and all interested can join the game.

Hopefully, this idea will be popular enough that LACK will set up a separate "SCHEDULING FORUM". It's not perfect, but I think a pretty good work around for the time being.

Hope to see you there!

you will need some indicator or way to stop others from joining the game who will play slow as hell. and for the record i'm not volunteering for this i'm already in 5 games but goodluck with it

Great Idea!

Even though this is a great idea what im finding even better is im collecting hotmail address and using mssger as a way to be informed of who is online and when, this way I can play the people that interest me where and when, with that said feel free to contact through my profile if becoming part of my network interests u ! I am a regular online and amost always keep a slot open in the evenings to play a realtime that night. Regular players only please! Thanks Joetalk OUT

Here's my take on the above:

1. There is no feasible way, as of yet to prevent people from joining. The whole idea is to essentially create a FLASH GAME, so that will greatly reduce the likelihood of a slow player (let's call them a non-RTP for non "real-time player" from joining.

2. Messenger can get complicated since you first have to figure out who is on-line and then contact them.

By using a scheduling method and only creating the game at the prescribed time we can almost certainly restrict the game in the way we want. If you get stuck in a game with 5 RTPs and 1 non-RTP, I guess that's the breaks, but seriously, what are the chances of someone signing up to a pre-scheduled game at EXACTLY the prescribed time.

Spread the word. Let's get some talk going. I'll post a time in the next day or so.

I agree that using outside means of contact can become confussing as my mssger list grow to outragous size, but one thing that I think u may be over looking is that there are 1700+ members and i dont think that half of them are regular forum readers. I think the idea is great and i am very interested to see how well it will work, keep me in mind as games come around.

If you look at the main forum page it states how many registered users have signed up right above where the people signed in are listed

Love the idea...has anyone asked lackattack if he can create a different venue and set the game clock to increment say every half hour instead of every 24 hours...?

Why not just put in a chat room? Surely that can't be so crazy hard, can it? Then we can log in when we have an afternoon free and an empty slot, see who's chatting and be like, "Hey, I'm unemployed. You guys want to get fed to the wolves over the next hour or so? Hahaha." And they'd be like, "I'm an independently wealthy heiress and he's a disabled veteran and this guy's a teenaged pot smoker... LET'S DO DIS THING!!!" And then you'd just start one up and join it real quick.

A chat room, pretty please.

Which are you?

With the 4 game limit and many playing all 4 that means you'd have to keep a game slot available for yourself at all times. Kind of tough to not have 4 games going as they tend to lag alot when you get a slacker player and sometimes 3 games just isn't enough. :P

I still think that a real-time games callouts sub-forum is a good idea.

I don't know if it would happen or not, but I think your best chance of getting that to happen would be posting your idea and reason why in Suggs & Bugs.

It might be rejected because we already have live chat and the callouts forum, but I could see a good use for it and if you want it, just post it there...I would assume it would get looked at quickly :)

Why don't you go count the number of realtime games posts in callouts to see if it's warranted? If you still think it is, post a suggestion.

Fun to see how the site's evolved eh? ;)

theres only 5-10 speed games at any given time ( most of the time). How hard is it to look at "speed games"
