Top Seven Favorite Games -and- How Long Played
Posted: Wed Sep 12, 2007 3:52 pm#1 Risk- First played in 1967 or 1968 on Christmas day. Traditional board with painted wooden cube armies. Own every Hasbro version produced since, both board and computer. Favorite color: Red
#2 Chess- 7th Grade chess club at school. Chessclub.com member since 1999
#3 Bridge- 8th Grade bridge club. Pogo.com member since 1998.
#4 Bank/combo eight ball- First pool table 1970. Ran the table nightly at the local bar in the late 80's while wired on high quality ether-based stuff, not to be mentioned by name. Rehab 1992. All is well.
#5 Bowling- 1965 rode a colorful bus to the local lanes with the rest of the neighborhood kids aged 6-10. Innocent days. Top single 256 top series around 630.
#6 Golf- Self taught grip and swing by studying Ben Hogans pen-illustrated guide around 1972 or so. I suck, but I shot a 57 with a buddy once in a best-ball tournament. The ether thing again so it doesn't count.
#7 Dealer's Choice Poker- Learned around Grandpa's table in the sixties. There's other games besides Texas Hold-'em people! Really!
OK, that's mine. Offered out of boredom plus I'm trying to distract myself from the fact that the boards are killing me right now.
Let me tell:
-The few boards that have been strong I've had players suicide on me.
-I've lost 8 of the last 10 odds-on elimination attempts.
-I ain't even gonna mention dice. (fuckin' things . . . grumble.)
