Attacking During Freestyle Advance

I had won a territory and was advancing my troops only to learn that the territory had just been won by a third player immediately after I won it and while it still only had one of my winning troops on it. I wasn't being slow, my opponent was probably intending to win that territory from the person I won it from. So I got an automatic message that advancing troops onto the territory would be an illegal move. The game was good - my first freestyle game - but shouldn't I be allowed to complete my advance on that territory before it can be attacked? The result was that I lost a vital territory that I could otherwise have defended or crossed. The solution might be for the third player to get the automatic message, giving me a few seconds to make the advance.

It's just a bit rough that a player can be attacked before advancing troops onto a conquered territory. Since there might be some complex scenario in which stalling could be abused I'm proposing that that a territory with that status can't be attacked for a few seconds.

Misterman is right, that's the nature of freestyle. Either be faster, get used to it, or play sequential.
I like the last option the best.

I would play sequential more often if I didn't always find the deadbeats. I wanna play, not wait for these douches to make their moves.
