Best Tactics

Postby sully800 on Mon Jul 03, 2006 8:51 pm

I know many people would prefer to keep their sneaky tactics to themselves...but I thought it would be nice to hear some of the more clever strategies you have come up with or seen put into action. This thread could be a helpful learning device for people of all skill levels because there might be an interesting plan even the most decorated of CC members has not thought of.

I heard someone mention a VERY sneaky move...If player A has a large force guarding one of their continents, you can attack it for a while to weaken it, but not take it. Then perhaps player B will notice that the continent is weakly guarded and capture the country to prevent A from getting the bonus. When A looks at the log, he/she will only notice that B captured the country, so unless A was watching your turn he/she will have no idea you were involved. This allows you to break up the continent and pit two players against one another while looking completely innocent! Note: I did not come up with this devious plan, but I like it for its simplicity and its double benefit. :D

A more common strategy was implemented against me by one of the top ranking members of CC. It was a freestyle game with no double turns allowed. We were the only two left in the game and he used all of his forces attacking as many countries as he could (and spreading himself very thin). I had just finished my turn, so I was watching while he played, and then began my turn right when he finished. The second I began to play he started his next turn as well, which allowed him to reap the huge bonus for all the continents and countries he had taken on the previous turn. Not only that, but he waited for me to place my men before he made his next move, so he knew where to best place his own men. I'm sure many have seen or heard of this (especially since it was recently mentioned in a thread) but for beginning players its something useful to keep in mind.

I have a few more good strategies I'm willing to share, but first I would like to open this up to all the other tacticians who frequent this forum...

I am not sure, but i doubt that this tactic (strategy) will earn you the first place in the tournament: "player one would wish to play with in double- or tripple- games".

the tactic u mentioned at the start where the player spread himself really thin only works in real time. if someone uses that tactic on me i will just wait 30 mins before i take my turn. it doesn't stop me doin it to other people tho :)

(i've done this one on the board game at my house but haven't used it on CC yet) if player A keeps messing up my continents, i make a huge deal about it and complain  over and over again until the player that i'm complaining about gets mad at me :x . they then end up doing a stupid move because they are mad at me and want to mess me up more and it leaves their continent open for attack because they spread their armys too thin attacking me. i then turn in cards and send a huge army through Player A's continent and then they are crippled and i leave my army in his place so he keeps trying to get rid of my mass of troups sitting in his continent but he cant. his armies are used up trying to recapture his country so he is an easy kill and i can capture his continent.

Tip: this works better against inexperienced players :? , players with anger issues  , and people that aren't your friends  .

WARNING: the person you use this against will probably not want to play against you again, so don't do it to your friends. 8)
