I've finally had it....

I always try to just join random games, but I think I'm done. The last 2 that I've been in have been unbearable with people just attacking me essentially because I'm higher ranked. I would understand if these were terminator games, but they're not.

Anyway I'm sure that no one cares, but I'm completely fed up with people that suck so I'm done with joining games that have any sign of a newbie or just a plain bad player in them.

I just needed somewhere to vent.

Also, is leaving people negative feedback acceptable just because they had 0 strategy in a game? I never leave negatives, but the 3 people in these games probably deserve it as they have just given the games away.

no its not. some players are poor strategists but that should not be criticised.if that were the case cena, every player who beats you would give you a neg for being a crap player.

I know you try your best and accept that

Poor play should never be neged, just bad sportsmanship

Even if right off the bat someone has all five lakes in the great lakes map or whatever it's called, yet one player repeatedly attacked me after I weakened up the lake holder and mentioned in chat that someone needed to take out the lakes?

I mean it comes to a point where it's really just them ruining a game. Being bad is one thing, being stupid is another. I haven't given negative feedback with the exception of someone who completely screwed over his partner in a team game by not helping and then deadbeating.

But I honestly feel like people should be forewarned before playing with these people that they have no idea what they're doing.

OH well, maybe I'll just stick with neutral feedback and hope they learn something from it instead of giving negative and having them give me a retaliatory negative.

Newbies love to attack the Highest Ranked player....it seems to be a natural thing to do...though they may not realize how annoying it is and especially when they do it to the detriment of their own game! I usually stick with playing with people around my own rank or higher, because I have run into the same type of scenerios...over and over again. You make a game, and have a bunch of noobs playing with ya, and then...two turns later...they all gang up on you and take you out! Like you just showed up on Pigmy Island!

As for neg for poor strats...that's tough, because as it was said, some people just aren't that good and overlook things that you wouldn't.

If it was a teammate that attacked you, that's a neg for sure. If your teammate refused to listen or take advice, I might have given them a neg in the past, but I think I would give them a neutral just to warn them.

But it's good to know how you feel about this issue...that way if I ever play you, I can just attack you! LOL

My last straw was yesterday........I constantly hear complaining from the low ranks that the high ranks don't play them. I made exceptions to that rule and divided my games to about 40% in public and low rank games ; but outside of laying up to sometimes 7-1 on points for win loss ratio, I'm tired of the poor play. The points I can handle but the attitude and drama I cannot. Add another high rank to the other side...............

I feel ya, steve. The good news is that, if you can get your score up a bit, you can jump in on some 2000+ games (in the callouts thread). Top-notch players and great games.

Hell, I'm as populist as the next guy, but I just won't play open games anymore. People like to pull that 'ZOMG you're afraid of losing points to a corporal' thing, but it's more about my own pleasure in the game. Winning a high-end game > winning an open game, no question. And there are no deadbeats, erratic players, suiciders, grudge-holders, or other assorted riffraff. Besides, playing the top escalating players forces me to raise my own game, which is the whole bloody point.

I'm in a real stinker right now... four players on the W 2.1 map and yellow is about to collect Africa and half of S.America bonuses for the 3rd straight turn. Over the past two rounds a player holding Oceania has broken the Far East and Central America to break a 7 & 11 bonus while ignoring Africa. This guy has 11 forted on West Australia the whole time and there are only a couple armies protecting S.Africa and yellow is now poised to roll over the map. Argh! It came as a bit of a surprise to discover that this mute Corporal with 10 positive feedbacks has played 145 games. So it isn't just noobs who are clueless to the big picture and it certainly does drive me nuts when all I want is a good competitive game.

meh, I'm on the other side of the spectrum, but I see where you high ranked players are coming from. Personally I don't mind open games, though I haven't played any recently, besides speed. I prefer playing with people I know on the forums, and that's good enough for my games. ;) I don't see why some lower ranked players have a problem with this. the only case that I disagree with this only play high ranked players, is a clan callout. If you have a clan that can kick but, why won't you let a lower ranked clan face you. You're calling people out. To reject a another clan because of score is wrong.
