use the 'note to self' to keep track of territory numbers per player. Also possibly a max army number based on territory count and what armies you can see. Not sure if it helps much but at least you'll have the information

Think it through. Draw your own conclusions. The fog of war concept has some fascinating nooks and crannies.

The strategy is going to change alot depending on the map you're playing.
I haven't got any foggy maps going yet... So I can't really comment though, can I?
(Though Doodle Earth will barely be affected.)

Imagine World 2.1 with fog of war?
And it would be good strategy, say you have oceania put one army on siam and all of your armies on indonesia. Then if it is escalating and they come to eliminate you...they get past siam and think you are weak and boom your main army is there to next turn destroy their main armies. May not work though.

Better would be to have your giant army on Western Australia or something. People might expect a giant army on Indonesia, but if they don't see it they'll go in assuming that the rest of the region is weak. Then BAM! 50 armies. Raped with a sandpaper condom.

Imagine.....
115 player W2.1 FoW game.
Each person could only see the 3 or 4 neighbors that they would have...
that would be amazing.

Use is so that when you get australia, you put most of your defenses on indonesia rather than siam. I know it's specific but use that as an idea to manipulate his attack plan.

I think we have the settings for the next BR, when we reach 2M games or so.

There are 114 players out to get you, and you don't know where 97% of them are. Imagine the thrill!

1st there is 113 territories on 2.1 , so only 112 players out to get u
2nd it doesnt make a diffrence in the 1st few rounds ... all u need to be is patient enough to go through log and see if ur neighbor attacked or didnt so u set ur kill!

as to reply to the threads question
I think the most thing u need is a presence of mind in that game .... the log is where u want to get started ..
post note to self about each player ... untill u have the log and the country next to u are matching then u head on !

In that large of a field -- it wouldn't matter because you can only attack countries that are adjacent to you. Those countries would be revealed to you anyway. What others are doing on the other side of the map has no relevance because even if they were visible, what are you gonna do ? hyperspace there?

what i try to do is keep borders looking normal (not weak, nor strong) and having my main force hidden from my enemies so I surprise attack we attacked...

So for Fog Of War, Unlimited Reinforcement games, do you guys think the early trick of putting all your eggs in one basket will turn out more or less effective than usual?

as a lot of people do, i make notes to self in FOW games about my territories.
however, if you're playing for example Escalating FOW on World 2.1, it's really essential to know where people are. on top of the other FOW strategies:
A) Try to stay present in or near all continents, both for scouting and elimination purposes
B) If you're taking a game seriously, consider making extensive notes about where every player is at, what continents he holds, how many countries etc., even noting big 'stacks' a player may have put somehwere (e.g. 40 on Libya)
For A, try to get a country in a continent that is not part of any subcontinent, like afghanistan in asia, cameroon in africa or moskva (that's a really good one btw, with 7 bordering countries
For B, I sometimes even go on 'scouting' missions to get some intel on parts of the world where I am not located myself at all (despite point A).
This way, after 5-10 turns when people do start to take continents (which will be the dominant tactic even though it's esc; since you can't see you at least want to have some kind of base), you can get a pretty good idea of who owns exactly what parts of the world or even which specific territories (list them!) and you can start thinking about elimination tactics.
I hope this helps people that are playing FOW games (on world 2.1), although it does take some time to keep track of everyone in 'notes to self'
Good luck!
