Cashing in cards

I eliminated a player in one of my games with flat rate cards and got a set when I collected his cards. There was no option to turn them in, though. As it turned out, I never needed to (was able to win the game on that turn anyways :D ), but I want to know why for next time. Do you not get to cash in cards in the middle of your turn when you're playing flat rate cards? Or is there a button you have to click on? The box with the cards and the check boxes for turning in sets never showed up, and I'm sure I did have a set. Anyone know why?

you can turn in a set in the middle of your turn only if you have 5 or more cards. That applies to escalating or flat rate
