We are having a debate over how confusing certain maps are. For the most part we are in agreement except for King of the Mountains.

So we bring it to you. Let us know the truth.

I'd say moderate, though in my post I said complex...I'll go change that...

i would have to say it looks complicated ( really complicated) BUT after playing it a few times, it is possible to understand it clearly.

as far as complicted maps go, i dont see king of the mountains as a complicated map. its pretty basic. not like some of the new maps, which are hideously confusing sometimes.

Keep in mind that we are looking for the impression that this map gives on a normal person who has just joined CC. One-way attacking doesn't exist in the board game, so some might find it confusing.

The map itself isn't complex, but the way some things look can be strange. For example:

"Is a king the same as a summit?"
"Do the blue and yellow mountains share a border?"
"What are shape groups? A cone is a shape!"
"Helipads? The ones with the 'H' on them, right?"

I don't much like this map anyway, but the vague presentation just made it more irritating.

That being said, I joined a KOTM game the same day that I started playing CC, and I had no problem understanding it. Most of the time, you don't have to look at the instructions at all. Even the bonuses are easy to understand. After you get over the confusing wording, it plays very easily. I say moderate.

By the way, Paradice, you might want to change your location, it just sounds weird without the avatar.

put it in the middle. Not as complex as say Pearl Harbor, but no walk down classic lane either

One need to know the alphabet to play it.

This is one of the only "abstract" maps that i don't find confusing at all. The rules are very easy to understand.

I'd say the method of play is pretty straight forward but the strategy is more complex than in a classic-type map.

I don't think it's too bad at all. Even if I were a newcomer, the instructions in the corner explain more or less everything else that would be different to usual.

But I think that in the wee welcome messages, newbies should be pointed straight to greasemonkey and BOB because I know I'd find most of the new maps unplayable without it.

I find it actually one of the simplest maps. It's spaced out nicely, the directions are clear on where you can attack and where from. The bonuses are simple, take a mountain or control the shapes for a lesser bonus. It's actually one of my personal favorate maps as well. Hope this helps.
