what would happen if you eliminated someone in a speed game (bringing your cards to 5 or more), and then let your time expire without cashing a set? Could you end up having more than 5 cards at the beginning of your next turn?

I don't want to try it, cause it seems like a stupid play. I've also realized that this could be done in casual games too.

Also, it would mean that you don't collect a card for that turn.

I think you'd keep your cards.

you only get a card if you end your turn so you'd still have 5 cards at the beginning of your turn.

in the case you have more than 5, you get to keep those cards.

people have made games purely to see how many cards they could get one person to have. with 8 player games now, I'm sure the 'record' will be broken

wouldn't 9 be the most cards you could ever have? since you cannot have 5 or more when you eliminate someone (4 is the most), and you can only take 5 by eliminating someone. at that point you would either have to cash a set (or 2) or wait for time to expire, in which case you wouldn't get another. I guess if you let time expire with 9 cards, and then someone with 4 eliminates you, they could have 13.. hmm.. I've disproved myself. So, 33 would be the most that anyone could ever have in an 8-player game where the first player had 4 cards at the beginning of their turn, eliminated someone with 5 cards and let time expire, then each of the other 6 players all had 4 cards and did the same thing in turn, leaving the final player with 33 cards and no chance to cash them in, since everyone else is dead. Of course, this could never actually happen, so it's purely academic.

not just let time expire, say someone was chasing you with their own army, following your army and as soon as you kill a player they kill you

say your in an 8 player game.
All players have 5 cards except player A who has 4.
PLayer A eliminates player B bringing his total to 9,
C eliminates A total goes to 14
D eliminates C-19
and so on and so on.
