Where do all the higher ranking players play...

So I've worked my way up the ranks a little joining and creating games in the general area. I've noticed that there are very few higher ranking players there, sometimes you see a lieutenant or maybe a captain but never anything higher than that. I don't mind playing people who are lower ranking then me (I play more for the enjoyment than the points), but it would also be enjoyable to face off against people of my rank or higher. Where do these people play?

Are they seriously that concerned about their points that they won't dare risk playing against privates, chefs and noncoms so they only play in private games with similarly ranked players? Are they that insecure about losing to someone lower ranked then them? What gives?

Nah, they're playing triples all day long.

Take a look in game finder...you will find the doubles and triple littered with high rankers all (apparantly) openly waiting for someone.

However...on more than one ocassion I have watched them withdraw from the game as soon as I have posted on the list...cowards.

The key is to collect a few bandits...get together at a certain time and whip a load of games in before they can react!!! They hate it!!!! LOL

It only goes to prove that there are many for whom, this is just about the only recognition they achieve.

the answer to all your questions is YES, most of the high rankers care too much about their points to risk them against low rankers.

As a quick reminder, there are 3 pages that include players over 1872 points currently. There are 84 pages of players that are below that.

Even accounting for the fact that many higher ranks play more games, it is simply statistical that there will be less of them appearing in open games. 3.5% of players are above 1872 points. In general, you shouldn't expect to see many more than that in open games. If you count team games as open games, there will actually be much more than 3.5% in open games. And even if you count the number in singles games, ill bet the number goes above that. So, in effect, there is probably a higher percentage of higher ranks in open singles games than one might expect, simply from the few number that exist in proportion to the other tens of thousands of players.

The other reasons would be based on individual choices and preferences. Many players simply enjoy different kinds of games.

Many complain about what others happen to have fun playing in this online game. Myself, I just tend to play the games that make it fun for me. I dont concern myself with what others play. I cant fathom why some actually do.
