Is it impossible for anyone to gain points that way?

this should be in q and a. i think what will happen is one player gains 20 and the other loses none. i don't know, though.

I suppose what would happen is that the winner would gain 20 points and the loser would lose none.

Since the formula is 1/1*20 = 20, however points are limited to a minimum of 1.

you can't go below 1

No they don't - lack introduced a limit so a player cannot get a score under 1. So if theoretically there was someone else with a score of 40 or less who beat a person with a score of 1, points would be gained but not lost

thankfully there is a 100 point limit to win. imagine if he beat a bigshot with 3500 plus points.
