Turn times, would it be possible to extend the options ?

Thanks for the site fellas! Question: Would it be possible to change the Create Game parameters to allow 3 or 5 days between turns? I can't access this site from work. <Bastards> But I wonder if an extension can be added as an option? Thanks for your time and effort!
Example, I do not want to mess with a good thing, but IF I head to Vegas for the SuperBowl, without Internet access, I blow my CC turns. I think time set within parameters (in # of days) might be a good thing or something to look into...
Regards, from a potential long-time player,

if you have 7 other players taking on average 4 days to take their turn you will get to move about once a month. so if a game takes 30 rounds you will be playing the game for almost 3 years. some games go for many more rounds than that.
or in a game where they have up 3 days to take their turn but the last one does so monday morning you will have missed your turn by the time it is the weekend again. 3 weeks of that happening and you have deadbeated.
thats not going to help you at all.

I understand your concerns. However, being tied to the internet daily might be an overburden. Logging on daily is not a burden, but taking a a vacation is .. I didnt plan 3 months ago that I would still be in a game of Classic. World...
I DID plan time off. I would hate to get docked for it.
The issue lives.

i think it would be a good option. i probably wouldn't join games with turns over a day long, but i think it's a good option for some people to have.

Like expressed, I doubt this is ever going to take off, for the simple fact games would go on TOO long.
My suggestion is let someone "babysit" your account while you are away.
You simply send your PW to someone trustworthy, and they play your games for you.
If you do not have anyone to babysit your account for you, I'll gladly do it.
I'm not only pretty trustworthy, but I've done it for many people before.
Simply shoot me a PM if you wish to.
Thanks,
-John

Thanks for the thumbs UP! I agree, not something I would join either, if displayed properly. However, the issue does arise, no CC or internet access for more than one day!! And I don't mean that in an arrogant way. I hope you folks can discuss this issue.

Thanks for the prompt responses ALL!
I understand and appreciate the remedy situation thanks John!
Thank you all for being so prompt and responsive, that's professionalism at it's best!
No sarcasm intended. You guys are good.
What about shorter times?

While I can see that longer times would benefit some, shorter times could mean more fun for others. Why not have a 12 hour time limit as well as 5 min. and 24hrs. This would give people some respite, but lead to some much quicker games as well....

I agree that the best option for u is "babysitting".
Maybe we should create a "Reliable Babysitters Clan"

This seems to really belong in Suggestions forum, not Q & A
WHERE you will find numerous threads already addressing each of these ideas.
Go to Forum>Suggestions and Bugs>Announcement-- Lack's To Do list and page down until you find "babysitting", "weekend Pause", "varying turn length",etc. (I may not have the exact titles correct on all the topics, but look around to see what fits).

Also would like to add, I see this game like Chess. At Chess sites, some online games only require 1 move in 14 days....

ignore him, that's just owenshooter being... well, being owenshooter.
So, anyway, 3-5 days to take a turn is simply too long imo, I don't see the need for it, either get a babysitter as was already mentioned, or ask the other players to go slowly if you're being away for just a few days. If you ask nicely I think most would do it, too. If this is a permanent problem I think you have a problem, though.

I've been in this situation before and all I can say is to enjoy your vacation. I would recommend getting an account babysitter, but if you can't, fine. If you have a life, your trip should be far more important than missing a couple of turns. However, I would advise notifying the other players in advance, then they are far more understanding. As for adding time options, I think it's a reasonable idea, but it just wouldn't work. Most likely few people would join it -- I know I wouldn't. that's just my opinion, though...

I would like AN option for shorter speed games... where you can limit the time per round from 5 minutes until 2 minutes... that way no one is forced to wait for 4 1/2 minutes in the freestyle games for people to play or cash in cards!

I agree with both of these guys--3 to 5 days is just too long. Get an accountsitter if you won't be around for awhile. I do wish that there were 12 hour games, though...
