Feudal War map question

What does it mean when you bombard a territory? When I attack from a castle to a neutral territory and it is down to 1 army left when I attack and win the dice throw all it does in the feed it says i bombard the territory but I didn;t conquer it. anyone know why?

That's the defintion of bombardment. You can attack, but can't advance.

then whats the point you lose men for nothing?

Think of it as a defense, as no one will leave large armies within your area since you can bombard them.

You can use bombardment to destroy armies on a territory that is not adjacent to your castle.
You need to then attack from an adjacent territory to capture it.

and if it is an enemy force, not a neutral player, if you eliminate all the armies by bombardment, it has the added benefit of converting that territory to neutral, meaning that the enemy cannot reinforce it with his own men and will need to conquer it again
