8 thoughts questions about the center of the map

Alright, ive been wondering this for some time, on the 8 thoughts map, controlling the mind territory is supposed to give you -1 troops per thought held. Well frankly i'm confused in a way by what that says and a few other things relating to it.

1. just how do you lose those troops? is it that the mind kills one of your troops in each thought at the start of your turns or does it remove them from the troops your supposed to get at the start of each turn.

2. are there 2 thoughts in the white area of the map? it says mind and reason, but im not sure if they are two separate thoughts or one is simply the category of thought like death, war, wealth, etc.

3. does reason or mind have the ability to attack the outer 8 thoughts?

4. considering all 8 outer thoughts share a territory with the thought on either side, does that also mean each thought shares a territory with the center white area?

thanks for the help on this.

1. You get one less to deploy.
2. There are two territories, but neither are "thoughts", that is, you don't get a bonus for holding them. You get -1 for each thought by holding mind, even if you don't hold reason. Reason can only be attacked by mind.
3. Mind can attack one territory in each of the 8 thoughts (it's a powerful territory, which is why you get -1)
4. No thoughts share a territory with the center. You can hold an entire thought bonus region without either reason or mind.

1. You lose them from the armies you're supposed to get.
2. Yes. They are two separate territories.
3. No.
4. No.
