hey im just wondering how a guy can miss 4 turns and not get kicked out? he is playing ever other turn for his defered bonus and its kinda stupid because i figured he should've been kicked for it and its making the game way longer then it should be the game is Game 1886249

a player gets kicked out only when he/she misses 3 turns in a row. if they miss 2 turns and then play the next one and promptly miss the next one, they wont get eliminated.

I played in a speed game where someone did exactly that. I think it was about 2 hours or so into the game the the person finally missed the third one in a row.

I would think 3 turns, period, would kick you from a game.

If it goes into a 50 round game, that's not much.

It needs to be percentage wise, a minimum of 3 turns missed, or if you miss say a third of the rounds.

So, in a ten round game, missing 4 gets you kicked. 15 rounds, takes 5-6. Etc.

I also agree that there should be some percentage thing in place as well. People come out of the woodwork defending those who miss turns, as if being kicked out of an on-line game is some horrible fate that should be very, very carefully doled out.

It's a freaking game, if real life calls, bummer, go take care of your shit. If that means you miss 4 of 6 turns and get kicked out, sucks for you. 'Cause I'll tell you what, it already sucks for everyone who's been waiting around for your ass to drag the game on an on.

Don't start games you can't keep up with and don't cry like a bitch if you lose some precious points as a result of your problem.

Non consecutive missed turns...

I agree with detlef and Plutoman. In game #1555408 one opponent has missed eight turns in 40 rounds of the game. That is a 20% miss rate and has added over a week to the game time. But I don't believe any of those eight missed turns have been consecutive. (In all fairness, I missed one turn earlier in this game myself).

This is on the World 2.1 map, which often turns into a marathon game even when everyone plays timely.

I thought at one point there was a kick out rule for missing a certain number of turns in total without regard to consecutive misses. Or maybe I am mistaken.

This is pretty much my take on it. I would think it would be something like Miss 1 turn by round 3...kick. Miss 2 by round 6....kick. Miss 3 by round 9...kick.

I haven't missed a turn yet...but I could easily imagine life keeping me away from a computer for a day. (Actually...hell...I would almost BEG for it at this point) And when the day comes I miss a few turns...I would be fine with the game kicking me. I would hate to drag it out for everyone else.

come on, you've played 26 games!!! i didn't miss a turn until i was a little over 300 games, and i felt guilty as hell! and i missed that turn because i emailed my friends old email to have him cover me, and he didn't see it... anyway, missed turns happen, but i do agree that it should be 3 total missed turns then the boot...-0

p.s.-my mini clan members all cover each others games... if we see someone is under an hour, we try to contact the person, and if there is no answer, we make sure they don't miss...

We could change our name to "The Miss-turn proof bandits"!

i just kinda think its BS he can miss every other turn so 50% of his turns and not get kicked

Problem with a percentage like that - is if you miss the first turn... then you get booted...

In many games those who miss turns repeatedly get ELIMINATED!
So give it a little thought and take action.

I think you missed an exclamation point.

I'm currently in 76 games and have only finished 26 games. If each game averages to 5 rounds (and I'm probably being conservative)...

That's 520 turns in 30 days with zero misses.

Sure...it might not be all that impressive...and I didn't say it to sound impressive. The point was...life happens. And when it forces me to miss a few turns...I would fully expect (and want) to be kicked so as not to inconvenience other players because something kept me away from the game.

So?

Better than someone missing 10 turns in a 15 round game.

Well at present you need to miss 3 turns in a row to drop out... so perhaps the drop out by percent should kick in after a number of rounds...

But if you miss 2 play the third - it will then boot you for missing 66% when you fully intend on playing again.

I'm merely trying to alert people to how this needs to be thought about in coding terms.

i think your completed game total has finally surpassed your total posts.. however, by the end of the afternoon, my guess is, your post total will again surpass your massive games completed.

anyway, the system works. if a guy misses his turns, attack him and limit his bonus and take away territories. the problem with people missing turns is that, often other players don't know how to deal with the situation other than whining in game chat or the forums...-0

Not sure you can hold that against him - your post count is more than double your completed games.

Dont worry, he means this as a compliment. On Family Guy stewie goes into the future, where the president is named douchebag, so the word takes on a positive connotation.

Much like calling someone Bush is a compliment now
