I am sitting there. 8 players show red in front of their names. 1 has green. It has been this way for 17 hours. What is the problem? I have not received any messages to play. I have two games like that. Am I not doing something or did I do something wrong?

No, you are doing everything ok. There are a bunch of other new players in that game (Circus, FOW, KLOBBER) and what probably happened is that these people joined the site and just have not come back. The green dot means that it is that player's turn. The red dot means it is not your turn. Since each person has 24 hours to take their turn, it might take a while for your turn to come up. What you might want to do is join games that have less people and less "?" icons next to the players in the game.
