I really am happy and done with this argument but it seems odd that anyone claims 'victory' when:
The majority wanted none of the options
The map you back was 4th favourite out of 9
And the 'original' map was 5th
I think it is safe to say that it was good that the majority had a chance to vote, as the 'changed' map was not popular.
yeas people went over the top but because the changed map was so difficult to look at! Once tempers had calmed, the problem really was more about the shock of a bad change not necessarily slavery to its the exact ancestor.
Of course people harked back to what they had before.. you seem to be ignoring the fact that none of the choices actually was what we had before.. this has been brushed away!
I drink wine and i don't give a crap about your problems with corks

the fact that you can extract copious amounts of money out of us for a particular bottle of wine, is specifically about tradition and the perception of quality from a particular region or grape. That's where the snobbery value of wine is gold!
The pomposity of tradition creates value. Wine like art is often good because we are told it is good and then we acquire a taste for it based upon information from connoisseurs and specialists!
Don't get me wrong i know the difference between a good and bad wine and like what i like, as more and more people do.
But the ceremony of popping a cork in a restaurant by a sommelier adds 20% alone to what a patron will spend .. not quite the same as the ceremonial unscrewing of the chardonnay or sniffing of the plastic plug!
Anyway resistance to synthetic 'corks' is very short-term. this is mainly due to the fact that it does not ruin the experience of drinking the wine.
the same can not be said about the changed map for me and i think you will agree many other player.
so anyway let's all just get on! and stop claiming some sort of victory .. i don't think it is the point, getting a bad change fixed was.
