Send them really strongly worded feedback to scare them into submission.

For example:
You fucking sucked you fucking fag! I'm negging you for missing a turn and then not playing how I wanted you to play and for making me fucking lose you fag!! Eat neg. Fag!!!
Has always worked for me.

Good Luck!

Technically, they can't give you a neg just for giving them one. It's against the rules. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. The entire feedback system is flawed and, unless somebody's got a ton of negatives, nobody really pays attention.

Dont worry what i have found if if anyone leaves a negitive and then the person who got left one leaves one for the other player it will be found retailitory, so even if yours (the second one) was factual and theirs wasnt yours will be taken, away, thus if you are the first to leave one you dont have to worry about the other person leaving you one back.

SIDE NOTE: The system can be broken but please dont as its the only one we have.

Just play a fun game, try to win, do your best, and be positive in the chat. If you do these things, its very unlikely youll get one. If you get a frivolous one, it will be deleted most likely. If you get one that isnt deleted, it will be obvious from the game whether you deserved it. Nearly everyone gets one or two eventually. If they are unwarranted, the person that left it will most likely be the one that goes on the ignore list. If you get 5 or 10 in a short period, it will be clear that you are the one to stay away from.

I carry the negs I have, besides wicked's, happily, because while I have a little number by my name, I know people that want to avoid such players just have to hit ignore, and wont have the misfortune of playing those players.

In short, dont worry about getting a negative, and just focus on good fair play, and only give them out in extreme circumstances, and youll have a great time in here. Good luck.

i got a neg once for eliminating the wrong player in assassin game. i had all but one territory for the continent in the south-west of the France map. when i attacked that player i was thinking i hope this isn't his last. oh well.

the guy who was trying to eliminate me gave me a neg for that. he had an overly inflated opinion of himself as the fourth player in this game held 3 continents, was right beside me & i had mostly one's so it would have been game over next round.

the neg doesn't bother me as people may join assassin games with me thinking i am crap at them, or perhaps they just ignore the neg as we all make mistakes when we start out.

Was it a fog game? If not, how did you not know it was his last territory?

LOL! OK, so I checked out the game and it was fog. Of course, it should be noted that 1) you did not have all but one territory for the bonus, rather like 4 of 8 or something. Secondly, couldn't you have gathered by the fact that green had completely gutted red that he had to be pretty close to getting eliminated? Hell, you can add it up if you have to.

So, you absolutely should have gotten neg feedback. Anyone who takes out the wrong guy in that format absolutely should. Your BS response to the feedback says volumes. It is nothing short of baffling that you don't understand this.

I have only given roughly 2 negatives. One was for someone who played a turn, told me "I am obviously going to lose ... bye" ... and THEN, after deadbeating, had the nerve to come back and complain about it being "the most boring game ever". THEN he gave ME a neg (my only one to date), claiming that he was doing the "honorable" thing and how dare I complain ... ... I had it removed, not so much because I thought it would affect me as because I thought he needed a lesson in what was and wasn't acceptable in CC.

I think I gave another when someone decided to not only tell everyone in the game how to play, but had to sent some pretty nasy pms as well.

Mostly, I give nuetrals for things I don't like -- generally heavy swearing, poor sportmanship, etc. I am more likely to just put folks on my ignore list. There is a wide variation in what people like and don't like -- a nuetral is a good way to express your feelings, without forcing a negative.

I've been given two negatives, both are in error. The first is retaliatory if ever there was one ("played horribly"), after I left feedback that he had failed to contain the third and more powerful player on a critical turn, resulting in a loss for us both.

The other I was accused of helping the game winner win, when the reality was that I actively tried to suppress the person in the lead for 2/3 of the game. I'm not a fan of suiciding, so when the winner became too powerful for me to intelligently attack, I attacked other people, including the person who left the Neg. Go figure.

In sum, the feedback system is flawed on the negative end, badly. Some people deserve their feedback entirely (bad sportsmanship/conduct, deadbeating ridiculously often, etc.), others are screwed by people pissed off that they lost.

calm down detlef, i thought i deserved it.

i was just pointing out that sometimes we do stupid things, we get a neg for it but we learn from that mistake and don't do it again. & in the overall scheme of things that neg doesn't seem to have stopped people joining my games.

and yes detlef, i saw that. like i said, i was thinking this guy could be down to his last but i did not check the log. it was the end of my first month and n00bs do stuff like that.

Even in a fog game it is intitutively obvious to a casual observer. The points for territory score is public knowledge and not hidden by the fog. Neither are the number of territories gained and lost after that point. (You know who but the fog prevents you from knowing where.) You can go through the log, do the math and come up with the number of troops he has at the start of your turn.

I do it all the time, followed by looking at the map for the armies I see and trying to figure out where the armies you don't see.

Anyone I see with 10 negs or more gets put on my ignore. I have four at the moment, but two of them will be gone shortly. The other two was for hijacking game 2,000,000. I deserved those.
