Internet issues, Dead beating, and Negs...

With the recent rash of "lag" in games or sight slowness to some I think leaving feedback for dead beating should not be allowed. Granted it is their right to, but if your net goes out and you are in a speed game how is that fair to anybody to get a Neg? I see people holding feedback hostage as if they own you by playing a game with you. Basically Anybody can put a neg on you if they want. They can find something about the game they do not like, and dead beating is a big factor I see a lot of negs for. It is rather lame and pointless. This feedback system needs updating bad. As wicked put it in the other thread what do we want out of feedback system. I say we scrap the current one as it is pointless. Well not 100% pointless, but it can be abused. I think some people should not be allowed to leave feedback. All they do is neg people for no reason half of the time. People who abuse feedback should have there premium taken away or be banned totally. I know that is harsh, but lately I have been a bit bitter, not at players, but at the system. I have seen sooo much abuse as of late, makes me want to puke. Such comments such as "Suicides into other players" - Interesting feedback as this person won the game. or "Abusive in chat" - Said one or 2 words. Hardly Abusive. I think some people just get a joy out of leaving negs when they lose. Heck even when they win. Spare me! LAME!
End of Rant

amen... agree... freemiums below a certain rank should not be allowed to leave negs. often times, people come, play a few games, throw out negs, and leave the site forever. they are gone, but their BS feedback remains... also, if a player has 3 negatives they have left, removed, they should be considered for suspension from feedback for a time period or permanently if the offense is that blatant and heinous... anyway... i'm done too!-0

And people wonder why soo many high ranks play private games. They know they will not be getting a Neg. I am starting to lean that way a bit, as much as I hate to say it. I have far less problems with high ranks than low ranks.

You guys know you can respond to negative feedback.... so if you get something like "suicides into players" and you don't think you did, you can put your response right next to it. Unless you have a disproportionate number of negatives, most people who pay attention to it are going to read what they are, and probably look at the game. So if you weren't playing terribly, then they'd find out. If you were, they should know. Same if your connection goes down.
Negative feedback doesn't obstruct you from doing anything, unless you get a lot and people block you for that, and I hardly think that's a legitimate problem. Take the feedback system for what it is: a means for players to tell others about how you play. If you don't like what they say, maybe you should be doing something different (like not playing assholes who leave negatives for everyone).

My Feedback:
81-0 i just don't like the way the system is abused. i'm not saying i am a victim of the abuse, i just am an advocate for those that have been victims of feedback abuse... you can send donations to my casa, and the funds will go to help these poor victims regain their standing within the CC community. yes, some under new names... yes, some under IP's that hide their true location... and yes, a few of the more severely abused are given Risk board games, and driven daily to the park to get their fix... so, if you can find it in your heart to help out some of these victims of needless and senseless feedback abuse, send whatever you can... for pennies a day, it is even possible to adopt one of these victims... more info on that is forthcoming, after Lack and Twill set up the pay pal donation link on the CC Home Page...-0

Thats the problem though. There's some low ranks out there who know they can't beat the higher ranked players in a game, so the only edge they have is the ability to give a negative feedback for just about anything, and some of them take full advantage of this fact. People wonder why high ranked players don't play as many public games, and its things like this that are the cause. Deadbeating a speed game should never be a valid reason for a negative feedback... we're talking about prolonging the game by a maximum of 15 minutes, closer to 5 minutes if you include the factor of how long people normally take to make a turn.

Thing is bruce... deadbeating is a legitimate reason for leaving negative feedback. But the circumstances may vary but when a player returns to the game and apologises for not being able to complete a game that changes things as RL can definitely get in the way of playing. I realise there are very few things more important than playing the games here and even though players need to keep their priorities straight... sometimes players just need to cut people a little slack anyways. Some negs are very close to
"I don't like the way he plays and he beat me."

Depends on if the person gives a reason before hand of why they will be deadbeating or apoligises. If not then they deserve negs but I can't really be bothered to do so, I won't complain if someone else does.

What I'm saying is it's not important to have a flawless record. Whenever anyone looks at your feedback, they will see that the negative was from some wanker who just leaves negs for everyone, and they won't consider it against you. Plus, you've got a response which justifies your actions. That's the sort of meta-feedback that tells you more about the person leaving it than the actual player it's meant for. So in that sense, it's useful to other players who will know to avoid the Void.
The feedback system isn't some valuation of worth, it's a notepad for people to describe their experience so that others can find out what you're like before they play. If the person recklessly gives out negatives like Void does, then they're not worth much. I got a silly negative, but he was giving them out like candy on Halloween, so I reckon no one cares.

Silly or not people like him should not be allowed to leave feedback at all. They ruin a rather good system. BTW we are talking about deadbeating a freestyle game, not casual.

And why not? When he leaves stupid feedback, other people find out what it's like to play him and can avoid him without having to experience it. It's like taking freedom of speech away from pro-life people: sure, you wouldn't have to see pictures of miscarried fetuses once a year when you drive down the street, but you also wouldn't know that those people were really stupid, and you might end up getting stuck somewhere with them, like at a job. Whereas if you HAD seen your potential boss holding up a sign that said "RU486 is murder," you'd know to decline the job right away.

This happened to me once. I had the neg removed, not because I thought it would really and truly harm me (given that I had well over 100 positives at the time), but because I felt the person needed to learn that HIS behavior was not appropriate within CC.
He played 2 rounds, decided he was losing, though actually I had just LOST a game with almost the identical set-up reversed. (a couple bad rolls make all the difference!). He informed me his was leaving, THEN he had the nerve to come back and complain that this was the "most boring game ever". (gee, wonder why?) At least he hadn't come back to win. (This was before the the lost turn delay in deployments and I did knock him down considerably)
I left him about my first neg EVER. In his feedback, he tried to say that he was only "being gracious" and that I "had no honor" .. and he certainly did not deserve the negative, that he was going to "withhold" his negative,b ut since I gave him one ....
Anyway, it is an unfortunate truth that some folks will be jerks and there is not much any rule changes will do to fix that. I tend to read negatives and often will put the folks LEAVING unwarranted negatives on my ignore list (pretty short, but still...).
And I have removed at least one when asked. (the person explained, convincingly, that the had chosen the wrong friend to "babysit" their account)

But why let him do it at all? Once is too much if you ask me.

It saves people like me the hassle of playing against someone like Void75. I haven't played him before, and now I won't. Feedback works.

As though it even matters. Who cares about 1 negative out of 78?
